What kind of driver would i need for
4 3500k:si-b8u521560ww
the 2 foot double diode ones

And is it possble to hook multiple drivers on one dimmer?

4 of them at 75% is just over 240. so a HLG-320h-48 is used.. full blast isn't 100% so you should not hurt them...

if you wanted to run 100% or have the ability to add on, it's still a HLG-480h-48

yes.. two "b type" can be hooked to a single 50k ohm potentiometer.. instead of a 100k ohm for a single

Well due to spacing issues

I think im going to go with 4 of the 4ft double diode f series @3500k and 4 of the 2 footers.

But im building the frame spacing to eventually
Hold 8 4 footers
And 8 2 footers

So i would need 2 of the 480 b drivers and an appropriate pot for the 4 footers.

Would i still need 2 drivers for the 8 2footers?

Or if i put them on a 480 will this hurt since i want to start with just 4 of each?

Can the 4 ft drivers and the 2 ft drivers be on the same dimmer? Or one for the 4ft and one for the 2 ft.

Keep in mind i only want to build half of it now
As in the 4 of each then add 4 more of each.

Also how much of the overdraw do i lose by going with a type b to put them on the same dimmer?

Thanks again im trying not to pester lol

umm

1 hlg480 will do 4 4 footers or 8 2 footers ( simple theory same voltage half the amperage because half the size/diode count)

but you want to be very careful only hooking 4 2 footers to 1 hlg480 ( driver 10amp max.. the strips max at 7.2!!) or just go two hlg-320-48's for the 2 footers.. one for each four set.. it can equal the same but you can't blow them up..(93% of max with the 6.7 A) price slightly more than a single 480

so you can go 3 480's ( being careful not to blow up the 2 footers at first) and that's enough power for everything... or go 2 480's along with 2 320's and there's no chance of over powering any strip and everything is powered...

yes you can wire pretty much any mean well dimming together.. you don't even have to match CC or CV numbers... it should dim each to what they are rated to do. just got to stay in the 100k for 1 driver 50k for 2 drivers etc.

umm the over amping between a and b types ill leave for LG or someone else.. 😄

Hey jolly first off
Thanks for spoon feeding this led baby .

I think you have given me plenty to work with for now

If i get this thing built soon i will be back with an update

As to the over amperage thing

Im just trying to triple check before i order :)

And i mainly wanted to know if there are any preformance differences between the a and b drivers that i should watch out for.

Also if i dont want to blow the 2 footers should they be on their own dimmer?

It would be awsome to run the whole set up off of the 2 drivers for now till i get the rest of the strips

Should i just set the pot on the 2 footers as low as they can go then adjust till it matches the 4s?

Again man i didnt think i would have even considered this build till i saw the strip build article
And got some answers here.

I definitely feel better about attempting this

not a problem...

there shouldn't be any major performance difference between a A and B type.. maybe a few more watts on a A type. (LG has a lot. better of a clue... I've never hooked a meter to my a or b type yet 😄)

not even thinking of this last night instead of a 480 doing 4 4's or 8 2's.... a 480 would also run two 4's and two 2's ( 3.6+3.6+1.8+1.8=10.8 the max amperage of the 480) every strip would be able to max out to its 100% over only being able to hit 75%.. along with needed 4 480's over 3.

yes if you go a single driver for the 2' footers dim it separate at first ( until you got the 8 strips on one 480) that other way I just listed you could hook two together to dim each side.. or single dim each one for row control dimming

took me a minute to find it. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=467. in there LG explains the best way to dim a driver that will over power strips ( hint hint your 4 2'footers on single 480)😁

Hey bud

Excellent !

Now i have a better grasp on my options for sure .

I didn't think i could run 2 4s and 2 2ftrs
I figured it would be 2 4s and 4 2s

But if i can that would be great :D

If i go that route with 2 4s and 2 2s
Which driver would you want
Type a or b
I mean would either type be better just for this application. Like will the type A dim low enough?
Or would the type B. Be able to dim lower? Or is it worth it to have the type a for the slight increase in power

I was going to say if you ever need any hydro gardening questions to hit me up :)

But im not an outdoor guy

Again thanks

I most likely would go B.. just because of the dimming to 10% over only being able to hit 50% with a A type. I rather have ability of going almost all the way down... over a few extra watts..
