LED strips sometimes powers on, sometimes it doesn't
I just built a shelf with 9 LED strips for my plants, but I have a very weird issue... Sometimes it powers up and sometimes it doesn't. The first time I plugged it, it worked perfectly but after 15 minutes it shut down. Tried to power it on again but it refused to. So I waited 2 hours and then plugg...

Re: Power supply for 9x BXEB-L1120Z-50E4000-C-B3
So after wiring up everything, wife is not so happy with parallel wiring for this specific use case. The reason is that it requires a lot more wire connectors than series wiring, so the final result is messy. Here's how it looks before hanging the strips: http://prntscr.com/zgrh1i I was planing to r...

Re: Power supply for 9x BXEB-L1120Z-50E4000-C-B3
I believe to use the wire gage, (1) the wire must be stripped, you don't include the insulation, and (2) it's not the round hole that measures but the gap. Oops LOL pardon my complete ignorance, the wire gage came without instructions. After testing the stripped wire in the gap (not the hole) it se...

Re: Power supply for 9x BXEB-L1120Z-50E4000-C-B3
I bought 16AWG wires on amazon with a wire gauge tester, but the wire I received is labelled as 16-19 and it looks like it could be smaller than 20AWG ... should I return it and buy something else?

Re: Power supply for 9x BXEB-L1120Z-50E4000-C-B3
Just one last question - what is the minimum AWG size for the input AC cable of the HLG-150-H-AB? I usually take a standard computer power cable (used for a monitor or computer power supply) and connect it to the meanwell driver's input cable. But I noticed that the input AC cable is larger on the H...

Re: Power supply for 9x BXEB-L1120Z-50E4000-C-B3
Good point on the effiency. So I ended up ordering exactly what you initially suggested, including the driver and lux meter. I guess I was just being paranoid with the safety concerns but better be safe than sorry! SELV rating is a good reference. Final parts list: 1x BENETECH GM1010 (lux meter) 1x ...

Re: Power supply for 9x BXEB-L1120Z-50E4000-C-B3
Thanks for the detailed reply, very well explained and the calculations are very helpful. About my safety concerns... I've dug in my old posts to remember why I went with series wiring in my previous setup. I bought a kit of 4x QB288 and it came with a HLG-480H-48B driver designed for parallel wirin...

Re: Power supply for 9x BXEB-L1120Z-50E4000-C-B3
If I remember correctly, one of the main raison I went with series wiring is that it's safer if one of the strip gets disconnected. But now that you are mentioning the electricity would be safer with parallel wiring i'm not sure anymore which one is safest I downloaded the Lux Meter app and I curren...

Re: Power supply for 9x BXEB-L1120Z-50E4000-C-B3
Hey, thanks for the reply I would prefer to avoid wiring in parallel due to safety concerns. It's for a 3-shelves unit for plants, so there will be water near the LEDs and i'm a bit paranoid lol Here is my previous setup 6x 976-BXEB-L0590U-50E1500-C-C3-ND (2ft) 1x HLG-80H-C700B The previous setup wa...

Hello,
Which Meanwell power supply do I need to run 9x BXEB-L1120Z-50E4000-C-B3 (4ft) at around 70% max power in series?
thanks
