Re: DIY HLG V2 build (Im a noob).

Welcome :D I was also brought into diy because I wanted something like HLG had but it was too expensive. What I would recommend and ended up doing is a strip build. Its no different than a qb build really when building. And its cheaper mainly because of not needing big heatsinks, runs cooler, and ha...

Re: Wood frame

What wood did you use rdooski3? It was some scrap I had so im not 100% sure. But it is a bit darker than the typical stuff at the hardware store. Make sure you take your time and pick trough the pile and get the best/straightest ones also. Ive seen some pretty messed up ones. https://image.ibb.co/i...

Re: Wood frame

I used a bit of 1x2 wood with my frame. I would say its stronger than the 1/16th thick 3/4 angle that I used also. And I dont think the foil would be needed unless you plan on running them real hot or plan on having a board sandwiched between 2 heatsinks. . Are you going to have a bracket between th...

DIY HLG-100 Dimmable + Larger Heatsink

Just a small veg light I put together. It has the same amount of diodes (192) as a Hlg-100 in 6500k and a 20x13 1/4 thick plate heatsink. The driver is one of those $8.99 Mean Well clg-100-24dlu's. Weird the output says 2.88a instead of the typical 4a and I couldn't find any info on the internet any...

Re: 10x 2ft Strip Build

Are you measuring the temperature from the LED board? I don't have one of those laser thermometers and need to get one but the boards are barely warm to the touch. If you compared it to a quantum board setup I have more aluminum and the leds are much further apart. Granted the metal shape isnt desi...

You the man!
Which strips will you be testing in particular?
They are the same design as the samsung H series. 1 and 2 foot versions.

Basically like if he was saying if one is 7s8p and one is 7s16p each diode should get the same. Its just like having 2 1ft strips is parallel.

Re: DIY build advice

Another cheap heatsink idea is Aluminum baking pans. Or you could maybe scrap something like a ladder. I used a old aluminum workbench and it worked great. Also a fan blowing directly on your strips can do wonders.

I've been wondering the same thing and was willing to buy a few and see. Im pretty confident it will work like we want. After they arrive I will test them with a multimeter and let you guys know.

Re: 10x 2ft Strip Build

Sweet set up. I like how the groups are modular and can be moved on the frame. Thanks! :D Did you use any kind of thermal compound? Good job on keeping some stuff out of the landfill. I rolled the dice and didnt use any. I guess i could have added some if it was needed. But they are running surpris...
