Re: F-series Build question
I really like what you all are saying about the Vestas - they sound perfect. I haven't come across any info on the next gen Vesta's - any idea when they would come out? What gen are the 130lm/w? Just trying to get some more info so I can track them myself.

Re: F-series Build question
Sorry, I was looking at the wrong strips. I see Bridgelux Vestas strips at 26.3v (looking at BXEB-TL-2750G-3000-A-13) but this only brings up more build questions. I presumably could run these 2s2p as well right? It looks like they would be bumping up to the max voltage of the PS (53v) but that's ok...

Re: F-series Build question
While I would love to use those, I don't see any with voltages that match my -48a supply. Other than that, does the overall build seem like it would work? I don't want to blow anything up.

F-series Build question
I have been gifted an HLG-120h-48a (total amps of 2.5a and voltage range of 43-53v) power supply by a friend and I am thinking of using this to add some side lighting. I was wondering if I could use it to power 4 Samsung F strips (3500, 80) wired 2 series, 2 parallel (2s2p). From the samsung calcula...

Re: low budget build using laptop charger
The EB2 strips might work - the spec sheet says that the minimum voltage is 18.5v which what you have. I found my EB2 strips for $4 each so probably worth it to try it out if you can find them that cheap. That said, see if you can find a 19.5v laptop charger - my is from Dell but they seem to be fai...

Re: Repurposing Laptop/Electronics power supplies
What do you mean inline with yours? And I thought you were running a 2' not a 1' strip? I just mean that we are both seeing 35% more amps going into the strips than the datasheet says, regardless of the size of the strip (.51A vs. .375A for me & .95A vs. .7A for you). I do not have a 20v although t...

Re: Repurposing Laptop/Electronics power supplies
True but that is inline with mine - spec sheet puts the one footers around .375A for 19.6v but I am pulling .510, both are ~35% more than their data sheet estimate. I remember reading in the "DIY LED Strip Build Designs" post that they speculated that these might be capable of higher amperage.

Re: Repurposing Laptop/Electronics power supplies
I was able to wire a 19.5v Dell laptop power supply directly to a 2-foot Bridgelux EB Gen2 strip without issues. My meter shows a steady 19.6v. It's been stable and just slightly warm for over a week running nonstop now. I plan on getting a bunch more of these strips to run in parallel off this pow...

Re: Repurposing Laptop/Electronics power supplies
Have you tested the voltage that the power supply is outputting? Maybe it is putting out an additional 1v. I persevered last night and finally got one strip up and running. I tested and it was pulling 19.6v initially and got up to .51A before shutting it down for the night. I need to test it again o...

Re: Repurposing Laptop/Electronics power supplies
So you are getting 950mA from just one EB2 strip? That is much better than I expected and significantly higher than the spec sheet would indicate. I hope to test my 4x strips on my 19.5 power supply soon - will report back then.
