Re: Microgreens with LED strips?

Thanks guys! One reason I suggest 2sqft per row is the fact the strips are 22" long. The shelf however is 36"x18" deep. Would it be fine to run three 10"x20" trays? It would mean 22" of light to cover a length of 30". This would be about 3sqft per shelf or 12sqft total. As for depth I figure 2 strip...

Microgreens with LED strips?

Hi all! I purchased some gear to build a 2x4' light using 22" bridgelux strips. I can run it at 240W at 1A but I can ramp it down to half that, 120W at 500mA. My original intent was for a grow tent for marijuana but II'm thinking about separating it into 4 small lights each with 3 strips and hang on...

Re: DIY LED strip build for 4x4

Well, I've learned an important lesson. Measure your tent! I thought I had a 4x4 but its 3x3 (well, 38"x38" to be exact). What I've purchased is a setup for 2'x4' (12x 2' strips + 240W driver), assuming i would build out another. What I guess I will have to do is tighten the spacing on this build so...

Re: DIY LED strip build for 4x4

Right on. Slipped my mind QB288 is a generic term, my cost estimate was straight from HLG website. That seems to be a decent price!

Re: DIY LED strip build for 4x4

Looks great man. No doubt you're making a lot more progress on this than I am. I did some research since my last post and really at a point where I guess that I'm admitting to myself that some of this is over my head/someone with my skill level should go with a DIY kit type option. Anyways, I made ...

Re: DIY LED strip build for 4x4

Update: Princess Auto didn't have the stock, and they recommended metalsupermarkets.com, the local spot was down the road.
They also didn't have channel so I opted for 1"x1" aluminum angle, both for the strips and the frame.

Re: DIY LED strip build for 4x4

Great! That's pretty much exactly the feedback I was hoping for.
Thanks for the quick feedback. Man I'm rediculously excited about this upcoming build, will be a huuuuge improvement over my current setup.

In case it wasn't clear this is for a 2x4 build (not 4x4 as per the OP).

Re: DIY LED strip build for 4x4

Have you considered full-sized baking sheets? $10 for a 26"x18" with a rim that makes it rigid and practical to hang. Where are you seeing that for $10? USD maybe? Its wierd, some things are just not offered in Canada or if they are they are 2.5x the price. Did you look at metalsupermarkets.com the...

Re: DIY LED strip build for 4x4

Also, thinking about a thin 2x4 sheet of aluminum which I'd tape the strips to: https://www.homedepot.ca/product/paulin-24x48x-025-aluminum-sheet-/1000862145 But as mentioned, running it cool should allow me to avoid the sheet altogether, ~$40, and the thermal tape as well, ~$20. Thoughts on either ...
