Re: noob to the LED game, looking to build multiple 4x4's
wooo, just got the supplies, havent been this excited about new stuff in the grow room for about 10 years! One quick question, I bought 14 strips, instead of 12 which the schematic called for... Should I use all 14, or just use 12 and save the other 2 strips for the next light? https://i.imgur.com/E...

Re: noob to the LED game, looking to build multiple 4x4's
C channel will work great, the copper you keep your LEDs the more efficient they are and the longer they will last for. ELGs are pretty cheap, the XLGs are even cheaper but they only got to 24V or to a constant current system and you don't want that for your build. The HLG drivers are better all ro...

Re: noob to the LED game, looking to build multiple 4x4's
If you are buying the longest strips then you will need to stick to the 480-42, not sure if there is an ELG 42V. The other thing to note is if you are purchasing the slim type strips I would suggest you heatsink them as they are alot thinner and won't dissipate the heat the same, a bit of flat alum...

Re: noob to the LED game, looking to build multiple 4x4's
What electricity do you have in your location? ELG series is great if you use 220v. XLG series is cheap if you can get one of the models to pair well with your setup. The slimline is the first of the gen3's to hit digikey, and they have progressive pricing. Other models should be in soon, so if you...

Re: noob to the LED game, looking to build multiple 4x4's
so I ended up getting excited and jumping the gun, decided to replicate the brightlux 4x4 build on this website. for parts I ordered 1 x HLG-480H-42A 14 x BXEB-L1120Z-35E4000-C-B3 (the build called for 12, but read some places that a few extra might be better if not running heatsinks?) Everything sh...

Re: noob to the LED game, looking to build multiple 4x4's
Nichia strips from Cutter would beat fluence performance, not sure of pricing though. I would suggest a blend of 4000K cri90 and 2700k cri90. pardon my complete need for handholding lol. searching for cri90 lights comes up with a huge variety of options, any suppliers you'd recommend checking out s...

Re: noob to the LED game, looking to build multiple 4x4's
I know this is vague, but basically the most cost effective option to get close to the performance of brand name pre-made LEDs that would be filling the same space.
if I could basically get the equiv of a fluence spyder or something along those lines, i'd be happy

Re: noob to the LED game, looking to build multiple 4x4's
CMH can be pretty hard to beat, you won't loose alot of penetration spreading out EB strips because the idea of running so many strips is to lower the light closer to the canopy while still maintaining an even spread. There are a number of options around, do you have a budget in mind also how handy...

Re: noob to the LED game, looking to build multiple 4x4's
Lots of strips to choose from in the 80cri range, and most of them are quite cheap. If heatsinks are expensive in your area you might want to stick to EB's and run them at nominal so you can skip the sinks. do I lose any light penetration from running more EB's? right now i'm doing around a 2.5 foo...

noob to the LED game, looking to build multiple 4x4's
I'm looking to convert one of my rooms to LED. I work in the hydro industry and am friends with the owners of a few LED companies. But unfortunately, my expertise is limited to "oh, well this LED is basically as good as a Fluence Spyder" type talk, rather than a firm grasp. I do have novice enough e...
