Re: Differences between Thermal tape
I did another test today. This time I took just the led-strip (so no aluminium strip or heatsink) It is plastic and bends a bit. Room temperature was about the same 52 Fahrenheit / 11 Celsius. Glued the sensor of the thermometer straight on top of the led-strip for this test. Turned on the light and...

Re: Differences between Thermal tape
The led was from the brand TCI.
It is 24 Watt or 23 Watt (not sure)
TCI doesn't make them anymore, but here is a link of a fixture that used them:

Re: Differences between Thermal tape
I glued the sensor of a thermocouple thermometer on top of the aluminium strip. In the middle of the strip, right above the led-strip. After 40 minutes the temperature of the strip was about 105 Fahrenheit / 40 Celsius and it stayed that way. The room temperature was around 50 Fahrenheit / 10 Celsiu...

Differences between Thermal tape
Today I did a test run with a small led-strip that I adjusted to an aluminium strip with some tape that I got online for little money. It's this tape: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000145649338.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.7c00b6d0HvbPt9&algo_pvid=13aa6320-7c9c-4a12-b19c-3d4674e85032&algo_expid...

Re: noob to the LED game, looking to build multiple 4x4's
Depending on the end system 480W can be plenty for a 4X4. A 1000W HPS is often too much in a 4X4 unless you have a really high hang height it can have a negative effect Ok, I agree with you there. But just looking at it from a technical point of view: To replace a 1000w HPS, how much Watt led would...

Re: noob to the LED game, looking to build multiple 4x4's
I'm looking for a simple 4x4 design that can be built quite cheaply, but still knock out better than 1000w HPS type results. In your opening post you mention that you want to have the same or even more light as a 1000w HPS. But when I read further in the thread, I see that you bought a 480w driver....

Re: What do you run in your 4x4?
Aloha & Is your 600w HPS dimmable? If you are not using CO2 supplementation you do not need 600w in a 4 x 4 . With too much light and heat the plants have difficult time using. I did a quick calculation and on a 4 x 4 I would run 600w HPS at 70%. 600 Watt HPS at 70% on 120 x 120 (4x4)? That seems n...
