Re: FIrst Build with Samsung LM561c 4000k
You can still use the influx chips! It's definitely not a loss. They're a little bit less efficient, but should still perform pretty well for you. You can balance your desired output with the wattage you're driving them at for the most optimal situation for you. They are still going to be way better...

Re: FIrst Build with Samsung LM561c 4000k
I was looking at the influx series and trying to compare it to the F series and things weren't making sense. The influx series needs more led chips and gets a lower efficiency to produce the same light. Then I realized that the influx series are based on the LM301A chip when reading the press releas...

Re: 3M permanent double sided tape
From the digikey page i'm seeing, the strips are listed as 24mm wide. Therefore I would recommend the 25mm tape so that the entire width of the led strip can be mounted onto the tape. It'll lead to better thermal transfer. When I mounted my strips, First I put down the thermal tape onto the heatsink...

Re: 3M permanent double sided tape
I got this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075FR45DV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 it's 82 feet long so it'll last you forever. I went with 20mm size as it fit the width of the 4ft F series leds I was using. I went with the thinner version because i didn't see a need for the th...

Re: 3M permanent double sided tape
Definitely go with the thermal tape. I'm using the same one and it's great. It transfers heat nicely and evenly and also attaches the strips to the U-Channel.
I didn't know about the Kapton tape. It looks intriguing and awesome.

Re: Newbie needs help with first build
Hey thanks for the help! I was really trying to avoid buying a meter but I finally bit the bullet and ordered one. Do you know of any good resources where you can find the best lux/par/ppfd/dli values for growing different types of plants? It would be really helpful to have on this site as well! I'm...

Re: Newbie needs help with first build
I'm just growing mostly lettuce and herbs at the time. I have 2 of the 4' strips and I'm trying to figure out how many 5ft (4ft really after dead space subtraction) 4" NFT tubes I can use with these 2 strips. I was thinking maybe 4-5 of the tubes with the Led strips hanging above them? Essentially w...

Re: Newbie needs help with first build
Awesome! Glad to hear it. Now that I have the led strips, I've got some mechanics questions: What height above the plants should the led strips should be? How wide can the LED strips throw? I don't have a light meter of any kind, and I'm trying to figure out just how many 4" NFT channels one strip c...

Re: Newbie needs help with first build
Thanks so much for the help everyone! I got some 18 gauage wire that i'm going to use instead and I got the U channel for fairly cheap. Just waiting for heatsink tape to be delivered now.. I re-checked the numbers on the strips. Turns out the strips warm up to reach a much higher amperage. One strip...
