Anything that the Mega sends to the ESP32 will be published to the MQTT topic feedback/debug , so try subscribing to that topic with a program like MQTT Box in windows and see what comes back. You may need to install some libraries in the Arduino software. EDIT downloaded libraries onewire, dallastemperature, wifi, pubsubclient, wire and adafruit sensor library and adafruitsensor bme280 library.... i reload a new instance of IDE and everything is orange (i assume that means it found the ...

I initially used a level shifter in between the mega and esp32 to bring the voltage down, but it gave me more problems so I scrapped it.
