Re: Heat Sinks

I'm not an engineer or anything but I would think that the more surface area there is the more effective the heat transfers out of the metal and into the air. Building on this idea; a U shape would be better than an L (or angle), and an L would be better than a straight bar. Thicker material also p...

Re: Heat Sinks

I have seen some builds with the 1" aluminum angle. But it depends on how hard you want to drive you led's. I have noticed that even a small amount of air movement across a heat sink will lower your temps pretty well. With that said if your running fans in your room and can blow past your fixtures ...

Heat Sinks

Does anyone know other suppliers other than heatsink usa to order from? They're out of stock on the 1" wide. I don't have anywhere that sells U channel that wide, unless 1" angle would work?

Thanks!

Re: Color Temperature

Do you know if there are any strips that have a 90 CRI? I wonder how a 3500K would be at 80 CRI?

Re: Color Temperature

Great thanks! From some of the things I've read it sounded like it would really affect the growth of the seeds. Most of those were based on CFL lights though. It's hard to know the color spectrum on some of them I think. If found this interesting article if anyone is interested: http://hortsci.ashsp...

Color Temperature

Does anyone have any experience with the different color temperatures of LED's and plant growth? I'm going to be starting some seedlings soon and was wondering of how much of a difference it will make? Specifically I'm looking at making some lights with the Bridgelux EB series. I've made a couple li...

Re: Cheap Lights for Strip Build

Hey! I contacted a lot of alibaba sellers but you can't be sure what you're getting. I contacted Roget from Mofue and he seems to be a reliable seller but I can't understand prices, first time I contacted him I got a quotation of 180usd for a 40mt roll of constant current strip with lm561c but sudd...

Re: Cheap Lights for Strip Build

I think you need a sphere for that. There are cheap strips that made with Epileds I believe, like 5050, 3528 - but they such a meh. EB-series and F-series are the way to go right now. As Shkronis said, unfortunately, there is no practical way to do this unless you have a sphere or a lot of money. T...

Re: Cheap Lights for Strip Build

Thanks for the heads up on the second gen EB's! I'll keep an eye out for them. I've also been looking at the Samsung H and F series strips. Regarding the "cheap" lights; is there any way of of tell for sure which diodes that they're using or testing efficiency? I see most of the suppliers are willin...
