Re: Large DIY Strip Build Questions

What Colour temp in 90 CRI are you after, how many do you want and what test data are you looking for? Cheers Mark Hey Mark, I accidentally sent you a private message instead of quoting your post above but I'll try to continue the conversation here in case someone else can benefit from it in the fu...

Re: Large DIY Strip Build Questions

TEKNIK, I am definitely serious about the large order but I wouldn’t really even know where to start since they have so many options. At the end the of the day, i’m really just trying to build the best product I can within budget but I’m not really particular about the little details. To the point o...

Re: Large DIY Strip Build Questions

That's the impression I generally got from their site. Not saying they don't have quality products but I over analyze buying decisions - particularly of the magnitude I'm considering so it's not seeming like a good fit. Labgrown: unfortunately, the good people at Digikey tell me that the 90 CRI stri...

Re: Large DIY Strip Build Questions

I’d have to double the number of bars to reach the same total wattage with the standard gen 3 strips vs the slims so double the heatsinks. I guess I could use aluminum angle instead of heatsinks at the lower total wattage but this is my first build and i’m following the green genes setup so I don’t ...

Re: Large DIY Strip Build Questions

Got it. I'll call on Monday and if the price matches with the 80 cri strips I'll probably grabs some and let you know. There's a 6 week lead time on all of the strips through digikey so I'm planning on ordering this week.

Re: Large DIY Strip Build Questions

Also, thanks for the heads up there Sly. I may end up using the tap rather than bolts but good to be aware of regardless.

Re: Large DIY Strip Build Questions

90cri gen 3 Eb strips are available through Digi-Key, you just have to special order them which comes with a minimum strip count requirement. That being said it looks like you will easily fill the minimum with the size of build you are looking at. If you do special order some 3000k 90cri 2’ Strips ...

Re: Large DIY Strip Build Questions

Thanks for all the help. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on the build. I'll add at least an 8th bar based on your last reply TEKNIK, and run somewhere between 1,000 and 1,200 mA for between 628 and 768 watts. I'll grab an apogee par meter and play with things a bit before I settle on the final p...

Re: Large DIY Strip Build Questions

Alright. Just an update here: At this point, it's looking like a 4x4 build for a 5x5 area with two 1190mm Gen 3 strips per heatsink. I'm thinking I'll be, running at 1.4 A each, which results in 112w per bar. I think I'll probably do 7 bars per fixture (14 boards total) for 784w (31.36w/sf) to push ...

Re: Large DIY Strip Build Questions

Gotcha. Well hopefully one of those guys decides to stop buy. A shorter flowering period would be great. Some other things I had been seeing suggest that a "phytochrome response" would "put your plants to sleep" faster, enabling a longer lights on period and a shorter lights off period, while still ...
