Spoke with the seller. He recommended this:

"use series and parallel, like this diagram shows. If it is easier, the jumpers can go on the same end of the board as the hookups from the driver."

Would there be a preference on either #1 or #2 here?

Yeah that's what I thought.

Can you explain why the driver needs to be run in parallel?

Why it works in series with only 2 boards and not 4?

Lastly what driver could run this setup in series?

Thinking all 4 on one shelf, but might be able to run them separate... not sure. I have t5 fixtures...

I'm trying to put together a setup using strips (2' 3' or 4') to replace T5s for a shelf setup. Shelf is 24"x40"x72". 3 shelves Would like to use strips. Could anyone offer build advice?
