Re: Help with Heat Sink for Bridgelux Gen. 2 BXEB-L1120Z 4′ LED Strip Build – 4’x4
I could go 18 strips as it is cheaper and I assume that it will be more efficient this way. I will have to read the forums to find a good way of building the fixture. Thank you guys for the great help. I got 20 strips, minimum offer (Gen 3), and made a fixture out of L-profiles only. That worked we...

Sorry for the newbie question, by using u bar you thermal tape down the strip on the flat surface? LED-newb here, do cooling elsewhere though. Most people use thermal tape but at least 3 additional screws per strip seem to help against tape coming loose. I just used more screws and thermal paste wh...

Re: First time, trying to learn :)
Yeah that makes sense checking for light leaks, I'm planning overall test runs. Wall condition is good though, the material is very thick as well compared to what I have seen before. The floor part was damaged and I reached out to the manufacturer, new one is on the way. I'm planning a scrog with 9 ...

Re: First time, trying to learn :)
wall reflection changes spread dramatically. I have a Homebox tent that I got used, it has this white reflective inside coating they sell as "PAR+". Panda film? It might not matter with LEDs anyway as infrared output is much lower. "Test conditions: Using the spectrometer AvaSpec 3648 with probe, t...

Re: First time, trying to learn :)
Got the L-profiles in. Now I wonder: Does it make sense to mount the strips kind of like I layed this out here (less streched)? That should distribute PPFD better in the "x-axis" and prevent some hotspotting in the middle but would it hurt for y-axis? Maybe it's not making a huge difference, just wo...

I didn't know this stuff, nice! I used clear nail polish before when cooling with liquid metal but it's thin, I had to apply several layers and it might be hard to ever get it off again. I'll get some of this.

Re: First time, trying to learn :)
Update: the main supplier for MeanWell drivers in Europe has problems sourcing AB variants for the HLG series for at least two months, likely longer as my seller told me. I changed my order to 2x Meanwell HLG-320H-42A and got a little discount. I'm kind of sad about the missing dimmer but I was goin...

Re: First time, trying to learn :)
Besides the tape/grease decision, I think you have a great build and I'm excited to see it! :) I can't wait :) I got lots of bolts and nuts + washers now and my little Bosch Professional drill will get some 150 holes done in no time :D With the thermal paste I look at it this way: those LEDs will r...

Re: First time, trying to learn :)
Thanks for your detailed answer ganjah! I thought about splitting the fixture when I traded millimeters here and there for some side clearance. Getting everything inside the tent will be much easier. You have some good points on the thermal paste. It would be overkill, but then I'm also a guy who us...

Re: First build with EB3 90cri Strip
If you run your driver at a fixed voltage then you should be ok. If you own a multimeter, you can dial in the current to 700ma that is nominal for these strips. The AB drivers let you adjust current or voltage. This can come in handy if you own a meter you can dial the system in. The AB was cheaper...
