Re: Small build for succulents

I also forgot to add - I 3D modelled an end cap with a cable passthrough channel to protect the cables running around the end of the profiles as they had some sharp edges where they were cut in the factory: https://i.imgur.com/COfw5mY.mp4 I've uploaded the model to Thingiverse in case it's useful fo...

Re: Small build for succulents

Update! I finished my build a couple of days ago. I modelled the frame on greengenes ' design that uses aluminium profiles. The cost was higher than for aluminium angle, but the 30x30 3N profiles make great heatsinks and are rock solid. Using profiles instead of just angle meant I didn't need to do ...

Re: Small build for succulents

The driver's internal circuitry will auto-adjust to allow for 120 Watt output. that's the CV + CC mode or operation, Amps is not "Fixed", its rated 2.3 A at 54 Vdc but varies to 4.45 A at 27 Vdc... OK, so what you're saying is the "Current Adj. Range" in the datasheet is specifically for 54V, and t...

Re: Small build for succulents

The -A can only adjust down to ~ 50% or ~ 60 Watts but can and will output 120+ Watts max. The -AB can adjust and dim to ~ 10% or ~ 6.0 Watts but can and will output 120+ Watts max. I agree the driver can deliver 120W, what I'm saying is that given the IV curve of the strips in 2S6P, together with ...

Re: Small build for succulents

The HLG-120H-54xx will output the full 120 Watts at 27 VDC, the internal circuitry adjusts the Output Amps up to the require ~ 4.45 Amps, it's a CV Driver the Voltage is Limited, Current is automatically adjusted to the "Limited" Amperage setting of either Max Rated Output (120 Watts), -A, -B and o...

Re: Small build for succulents

Thanks, I think I've got it now! Before I put my order through, I was also considering whether I might be better off buying the 2ft (560mm) strips and running these only in parallel. As they run at the same voltage, just double the current, this would leave the door open for increasing the size of t...

Re: Small build for succulents

Thanks for the in-depth explainer. I'm definitely intending to run under the SELV limit. -54xx Driver has a 27 - 54 Vdc “CC Region" , no adjustments needed and is the best selection for your 2S/6P Circuit @ 47.5 Vf. Does this really require "no adjustments"? Surely I still need to set the current po...

Re: Small build for succulents

I thinks there is just some confusion in terminology. The "Constant Current Range" of MeanWell LED Drivers refers to the Voltage range where 100% of max rated Current / Watts is available. My recommendation has always been Parallel wired < 60 Vdc SELV rated circuits which are usually CV Drivers, "M...

Re: Small build for succulents

PeteR_1 , another question regarding driver choice - Having read through most of LEDG 's guides, it seems he recommends running drivers in CV mode for strips wired in parallel, rather than CC mode as you've recommended. What's the logic behind your preference? My understanding is that even for the ...

Re: Bridgelux thrive spd

Im pretty sure you can buy the bridgelux gen3 in CRI90 I'd had a look for these before and didn't succeed, but just to double check I had another look. It does seem Future Electronics have some stock , but only in 2700K and 4000K 2ft/4ft. There's also a minimum order quantity of 20. Unfortunately I...
