Re: F series build with side lighting
I have 4 of the 2-footers with a 200w Inventronics driver. There are 6 plants in that picture. All of those you mentioned are good, but IMHO, it's best to find a deal on secondhand drivers and then select strips that will work with the drivers' output. You can get 150/180/200w drivers as efficient a...

Re: F series build with side lighting
I have a 5x5 and I'm incrementally adding mid-power LED strips. I have 14 of those 23w TCI Strips from ebay for the top light, and 4 F-strips for the side lights. It's pretty intense, light burn is definitely a problem, but the penetration is great.

Re: Found - good value aluminium sheets/heatsink for mounting LED strips
I found some contractor pricing sheets saying Thermofin C (the heavy stuff) is about $27 per 8'. Here's someone claiming the Thermofin U is $12.55/8': http://www.jlaforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=275099180 I can't find a way to buy just one or two sticks of this stuff, and if you buy it direct they'll h...

Re: Found - good value aluminium sheets/heatsink for mounting LED strips
This is the heavy version: https://radiantdesignandsupply.com/tfinc/ I tried to get a sample about a year ago but they sent the thin one. If you end up getting pricing let me know what they're asking since this would be an almost universal LED cooling solution if you used copper pipe and water-cooli...

Re: SMD 5730 AC 110v 220v 240 LEDs p/m IP67 flexible strip
This may be of interest to Space-Bucketeers. They love their tape lights. Where is the heat going, though? LEDs are more efficient at low temperatures, so unless you can apply thermal paste directly to the copper on the back of the tape, the performance will probably be quite a bit lower than advert...

Re: Liquid Cooled Grow Lights!
Someone needs to manufacture an aluminum clamp heat spreader big enough to hold the 200w COBs. Frank Lloyd Wright would have done his track lighting this way if he was alive today. It's a much more material-efficient way to provide gobs of lighting, and you can use the lighting to bring outdoor ecos...

Re: Motorized winch/pulley system
Im trying to work that out in my head buts its kinda hard without some sort of pic. So the hoist pulls on a hook center in the light frame? And then there are 4 pulleys in corners? Or is the hoist of to the side? Sketch attached. This is a 1 hoist per light configuration that will keep them level a...

Re: Low power setup / heatsink dimentions
It might be tough to find a mid-power board to fit the 36v driver. It might be impossible with your budget. Re: Motorized winch/pulley system
It sounds like you want one of these mounted centered on the light, with pulleys at each corner of the fixture, and eye-bolts mounted to structure above: https://www.harborfreight.com/440-lb-electric-hoist-with-remote-control-60346.html If you want to move more than one light with a centrally locate...

Re: Power strip (5+ outlets) with a weekly timer?
One switch would probably suffice, I just said two to illustrate how inexpensive these things are. Check this video out: https://youtu.be/DyN4tn9v8zA You could cut a power cord and wire the thing in like the guy did in the video. If you have a power strip already you would just cut the power cord, s...
