Re: Alternative theory for THC as protection from UV-B

I'm of the opinion that the "sticky" keeps the seeds protected from birds and other critters until they are mature. Birds love the mature seeds but don't seem to have much interest in removing them from the growing plant. (There's a company that makes bird repellent that's looks a bit like uncured s...

Re: Thoughts on this ebay panel,

If the panels pull 3.5 Amps each and there are 5 in parallel, then you are indeed pulling 17.5 Amps. But this is at 12 Volts. This means the whole thing is only drawing 210 Watts.. Doing it this way means you'll need to step down the 120 Volts from the outlet to 12 VDC. You'd only be pulling about 2...

Re: Multimeter use on bridgelux 1 foot setup

I suspect that the currents don't add up because the meter isn't very accurate. In theory, all the current coming into the Wago is exactly equal to the sum of all the current going out. It should add up, But if the meter isn't correct, the errors will add up and make for a weird result. What make an...

Re: Multimeter use on bridgelux 1 foot setup

Looks like the technology left me in the dust... When I bought my DC clamp, it was four bills. The AC one was only 85. Both have analog meters.

$50 is pretty good if it's accurate.

I stand corrected.

Re: Multimeter use on bridgelux 1 foot setup

Most of the inexpensive clamp-on Ammeters are for AC only. They're useful to see how much current the combination of the driver and LEDS are pulling from the wall. I use a Killawatt meter for that and it works well as my light only has one driver. For current measuring on the DC output side of the d...

Re: Multimeter use on bridgelux 1 foot setup

When measuring the current, the meter leads are put in series with the leds and the driver. Break the circuit at this point and install the meter at this break. Note that this is very different than measuring voltage, which is done in parallel. Generally the meter leads will have different holes in ...

Re: First time grower here

If this is your first time growing, I'd recommend a bit of homework for you. There are a lot of ways to grow cannabis and you'll need to pick a style to emulate that works for your situation. Have a look at GrowWeedEasy.com. They explain things pretty well. As for lighting, I'm working my way toward...

Re: Determining Ripeness

I use a camera with a macro lens to check trichomes. It's nice because I don't have to touch the plant and I can see a large area all at once, while seated comfortably on the couch later. If you go overripe, you'll have "sleepy" herb. Not ripe enough makes for "speedy" herb. My preference is a bit t...

Re: What´s up with my plant?

I had a battle with whatever this is, about a year and a half ago. If I could get the plant big enough to flower, it would pull out of it, mostly. I had to reveg a flowered plant because I lost the mom to this. When the plant was reveged, it grew healthy and I was able to get clones from her. Right ...

Re: Stopping nut before harvest?

I flush my all-perlite inorganic Hempy buckets for 2 weeks with RO water and Clearex. I test the runoff and try to get less than 100 ppm (700 scale) coming out the first day. By the end of flush, about 20 ppm is all that comes out. I see the plants start to deteriorate after about 6 days. By 14 days...
