Re: How to build a COB?

The components will vary, depending on how you'd like to construct your build. The three basic elements are the COB, the driver, and the heatsink. Reflectors are also very popular with COBs. Other little bits and pieces will be necessary too (equipment for the wiring, material for a frame to hold ev...

The numbers say LM301b Q series, don't they?

Re: How to build a COB?

As a rule of thumb, you want to be looking at approximately 35W of LEDs per square foot, so we're talking 5-6kW. A COB-based light fixture will need, besides the COB, a heatsink (otherwise they fry) and a driver (to make sure they get powered). There are different companies that produce COBs, but th...

Re: Philips Top Lighting

The brochure isn't really detailed about the technical aspects, but I managed to gather they claim to be about 12% more efficient than the Samsung diodes. I googled their product numbers, to see if I can get a quick approximation of prices. Here you can see the most efficient model: https://c4cienti...

Re: Need help for diy 2x4 build.

Is it difficult to solder wire to cob? I didn't have a clue about soldering before I built my first fixture. I was actually scared, that learning a new skill will be difficult, or hard to master. Looking up on youtube "soldering for dummies" taught me everything I needed to know. I bought a $20 sol...

Re: Is this a legit site?

No idea who this re-seller is. The prices look legit. I would have been suspicious if they were any lower than the quotes I got from factories, but they're about 15% more expensive. The question, as always, is quality control and quality assurance.

Re: 80 CRI vs 90 CRI

I don't yet see the advantage of spending more for 90 CRI diodes when 80 CRI is already more efficient for indoor growing than nearly every other man-made light source. Seems like a cost/benefit fail. That would depend on how you measure efficiency. 80CRI is definitely more efficient in producing l...

Re: Anybody in Europe for a bulk purchase?

P.S.,

It took some digging, but a reputable Alibaba supplier of PCBs was found. Discount is in the range of 30-50%, depending on how large the order gets, when compared to available brand names. When comparing €/diode against strips available on Digi-Key the price drops around 45-65%.

a white diode that's going to do 3.0 umole/j?? 😄 lol I can't tell what they are..

I'm slowly reading my way thru SAG's lighting guide, but there is a mention, which isn't followed up on, on a new 3 uMol/J light. (He can be verbose, but there's plenty to learn.)

What exactly is that color range supposed to add to the growth of your cannabis?
It's the Emerson Effect that everybody wants. Supposedly for an experienced grower, who already covered all other bases, this would give a little edge.
