Re: Automated control system - any experience or directions?
I bought DHT22/AM2302 (€5 on Amazon), still didn't get around to use it. It's the one that repeatedly came up when looking for one. I wonder about writing the guy behind Mycodo to add pH/TDS sensor (+peristaltic pump correction) support. That's the holy grail there. I guess I should get acquainted w...

Re: Soldering iron
I bought a €15 solder, which serves me just fine. I'm guessing the temperature control isn't as accurate, and the build quality is such that it wouldn't last for more than a couple of years. But given the limited use I'm putting it too that's fine with me. Looking at amazon.ca we're talking about th...

Re: Are reflectors really worth the trouble?
I have a couple of upside down pots I keep a couple of plants growing from: I'm pretty sure you can grow marijuana that way too. (Given that my upside down plants get sunlight, after about dropping for approximately a foot the leaves start curling upwards.) I wonder if there might the tiniest bit of...

Beautiful!
Out of curiosity, since it seems the Ikea closet was chosen for discretion, how do you handle air exchange? (My carbon scrubber+air pump is too noisy to keep around.)

Re: I'd like to mix some Ir/uv-a
http://www.solacure.com/exuvandca.html They have most of the jargon right, but no actual data, let alone peer-reviewed research to point at. Without the numbers it's merely a hypothesis (at least the Emerson effect has actually been proven.) Or in other words still, their salesmanship is artful, bu...

Re: Are reflectors really worth the trouble?
I think a part of the question is what the lights are used for. A reflector, as the video shows, can be effective in concentrating light in a particular area, which would be great for a flashlight. The reflective walls of a grow tent probably have a similar effect, but given the damned inverse-squar...

Re: Gh Flora added Grow first
Link to a Canna grow please. It's a Dutch company, but I believe they also export to the New World: http://www.cannagardening.com/coco The 1:1 mix ratio is good for two reasons. First, when feeding manually you have one less thing to think about. While I initially enjoyed the feeling of being a lab...

Re: Gh Flora added Grow first
You mean adding Grow before Ca/Mg? Don't stress about it. The only issue is making sure not to dump all your nutrients together, in a way that the different ions end up forming salts. (Which aren't terrible, but simply go unavailable to the plant.) The order isn't that critical, but making sure to g...

My succulents will love this!
Oh, I missed reading the announcement on the site, I guess my European address disqualifies me in case my raffle ticket is drawn. (Though I'd be happy to pay for shipping!)

Re: Heating in the winter
I use a similar heater to keep my demijohns full of fermenting fruit-juice going, preparing for my moonshine/bootlegging operation. But in that case all I need to heat is basically sugar water, which also retains heat well. Heating a roomful of circulating air in contact with the freezing outdoors w...
