Re: 80 CRI vs 90 CRI

Of course if anybody feels generous enough to send me different lights at 80/90CRI I'd be happy to have a nice little experiment going with 2/4 tents

Re: 80 CRI vs 90 CRI

I don't have the hard data, but I had the chance to talk with a commercial grower who did an in-house experiment and reported that 90CRI more than compensated in overall efficacy for the lower lumen/watt efficiency. So yes, this is a random stranger telling you about the not-peer-reviewed experience...

Re: Any experience with AF?

I spent the past year growing ruderalis strains, gone thru pretty much all of those that Royal Queen Seeds have. Quite frankly none of them blew my mind away, and yield wasn't great either. They were fine, sure enough, but the only one which did nicely was in the last grow, and that was a seed that ...

Re: Automated control system - any experience or directions?

Yes, I've seen his setup, and also caught glimpses of what Growmau5 uses. They all use commercially available devices doing everything that I fantasize of doing. I'm not trying to invent anything new, just make it affordable by making it DIY. The difference is that what they use costs in total a cou...

Re: What's the opposite of "the runt"?

Maj, Did you have a formula that you normally use or do you just let them do their thing? This will only be my second grow, so I'm still searching for what techniques and schedules are considered "the best". Although, I suppose "best" requires a definition... Exactly: "best practice" would depend o...

Re: New build with LM561 flexible strips

Another good reason to go with HLG is that they at least have some business experience. PFD sells the same product (give or take), but is in operation only since February and who knows how long he'll be around. I vote buying directly from Shenzhen, but if buying from a middleman then might as well g...

Re: New build with LM561 flexible strips

Adding the 660nm is a nice touch, but I wonder why he didn't take the obvious step and add instead 670nm & 700nm for the Emerson effect. Other than that it looks like PhotonFantomDesigns sources the PCB LED-arrays with the same factory that HLG do. And while HLG are selling at ~$0.24/diode PFD sells...

Re: Samsung LM301B: 220lpw!

What's the story with old mother sativa..? Alibaba is a bit like buying on eBay. There have been and will be scammers on it, but you can easily set them apart from solid, established manufacturers / suppliers with a long history of happy customers. When it comes to COBs KingBrite are an excellent so...

Re: Samsung LM301B: 220lpw!

Given that the new LM301B isn't even available the LM561C is still effectively top of the line. At 12,70/72-diode strip you're paying €0.17/diode, which is cheaper than what people are paying for HLG's quantoboard ($0.24/diode) and little more than what you'd get sourcing in bulk directly by Alibaba...

Re: Coralux Storm controller Custom Firmware

Looks a lot like a par of the project I'm fantasizing about . I didn't know of Coralux before, but looks like they built around the same core. I got in touch with a couple of Python programmers with Raspberry Pi/Arduino experience and am in the process of getting quotes. (And figuring out how to pay...
