Re: what's better?
The PPFD measurements you're referring to were made by somebody else, most probably in a different setting. (The distance to wall, and any reflective material, not to mention height, will all cause results to vary. And that's assuming the same diode driven in the same amount.) More importantly, when...

Re: what's better?
Generally speaking, more lights spread out would be better than fewer but more concentrated lights. Better coverage, better heat dissipation. So I'd go with option no.1

P.S.,
Temperature for the strips, with no heatsink, ranges at 32-43°C.

Things I learned building my fixture
Well, I've finally finished assembling a lighting fixture I've been meaning to build since last summer. A lot of learning and planning went into this, and as always there were last-minute improvisations. I'm guessing if an electrician saw what I've done they'd get a heart attack. The frame: 1*1m bui...

Re: air pruning pots or DIY-alternative
Airpots have a couple of practical advantages, besides the root hype: they're far easier to re-pot (just unscrew and they fall apart: no shaking or handling needed), and the perforated plastic sheet gives you plenty of anchoring spots all around the plant for all the LST you want. I use 1L airpots f...

Re: Does anyone have any shenzen 288's
Apparently experience with Bava isn't good. (See here.) Meijiu mentioned at the same post, unfortunately, doesn't get a better overall review. Avoid Mufue as well.

Re: PPFD & Photon Efficacy of the LM301B vs LM561C
mufue sells some flexible CC ones that are probably worth a try: Only problem with mufue is that they'd sell you an inferior chip. Proceed at your own risk. I was blown away by the guy who used the excess heat to warm his water, in effect kinda doubling his lights efficiency. A project I'll never g...

Re: Newbie choices
Sourcing from an Alibaba supplier can get significantly cheaper (in the range of 50% less), especially when ordering in bulk. Finding an honest supplier on Alibaba is already a far trickier matter. Don't expect any customer service either.
