Re: "LM561C" Boards and Strips from Bright and thoughts on dealing with Shenzen mfg's
I had a look at the Shenzhen Bright alibaba page and realized I had been there before, but could not wrap my head around the vague pricing and collage of product pages collected from the internet. A thing to know is that the prices you see online for Alibaba suppliers/producers is meaningless. King...

Re: "LM561C" Boards and Strips from Bright and thoughts on dealing with Shenzen mfg's
haha do you value the "look" of the LED? this is like buying clothing just because it has a luxury brand tag on it. If there's one thing I like about this forum/community is the positive attitude. If I'd want to be in a community where people flame and put each other down all the time I'd be on RIU...

I'll give them a try in half a year or so. One would need an Apogee sensor to figure out the binning, given that these do look like the LM561c. This is already a step ahead of other players mentioned.

Re: PPFD & Photon Efficacy of the LM301B vs LM561C
Except for one thing: pretty much everybody buys from the Shenzhen factories. There's definitely a reliability issue, but there's no need to throw away the baby with the bath water. When buying COBs I had a great experience with KingBrite on Alibaba, and would happily recommend them to anybody build...

Re: PPFD & Photon Efficacy of the LM301B vs LM561C
i certainly don't anymore. after dealing with mufue, bava, hansion, meijiu i was not impressed by their product transparency. I, too, have ended up buying a cat in the bag from Mufue. My next order will still be from Shenzhen, from the one company that told me they have no availability, Bright. I h...

Re: PPFD & Photon Efficacy of the LM301B vs LM561C
using the LED engine calculator i compared F562B with Q562A. Thanks for doing the math! It would be best, however, to compare LPW/$ on a per-diode basis: Digikey prices can be used as a reference, but eventually many would be interested in sourcing from Shenzhen factories where the diode distributi...

Re: PPFD & Photon Efficacy of the LM301B vs LM561C
Part of the question is what your limiting factor is. In real-world situations efficiency is determined not by ideal maximum-efficiency the chip can reach, but the temperature it runs at. This would depend both on cooling and how hard you drive the chip. Cooling depends, in turn, both on dissipation...

They were supposed to be LM561C, but I'd consider myself lucky if they're even LM561B+...

Re: Anybody in Europe for a bulk purchase?
Does kingbrite have those small qb's that don't need much heatsinking? How much did you save going east? Last time I checked Kingbrite doesn't deal with Samsung chips. Contact them if you'd like. As for heat dissipation, that varies greatly. The HLG QBs only require a heatsink if driven beyond a ce...

Re: 80-up boards from Steve's
Not knowing what the diodes are, what CRI they're at, etc., it's impossible to make any knowledgeable judgment about this. I'm guessing particularly cheap Epistar chips, but who knows. As Unkle_psycho pointed out, these are definitely not very efficient when it comes to lumens-per-watt -- and that's...
