Re: Bridgelux EB2 280mm Build Help
What is the thickness of that sheet you've used? I did some very similar setup with 6mm thick aluminium sheet and if I put them on highest settings ( with potentiometer ) then they run quite hot... Well mine is a bit different. Having 12 strips on 300x300 mm sheet ... Yours having more gaps between...

Re: New EB Gen 2 Build - Input on Choices
Here's the data sheet for the HLG-150H: http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/260/HLG-150H-SPEC-806071.pdf Bottom right corner of page 6 has the EFFICIENCY vs LOAD graph. 70 watts used of 150 watt max = 46.7% Load. Looks to be just under 90% efficiency, a drop from your 92.5% on the 120 watt driver, but a gain...

Re: New EB Gen 2 Build - Input on Choices
Nice clean build, with a professional looking dial. 1" square tube for the frame, and heatsinkusa for the led strip bars? bridgelux understates these strips' max amperage, and with those heatsinks you could go past the 700mA ma max on the 1 footers. Your 70W / 12 1' strips = 5.8W / strip -> Looks li...

Re: Repurposing Laptop/Electronics power supplies
My electrical knowledge is limited, just a hobbyist, but if you're comfortable with using a multimeter and you're willing to risk a LED strip, go for it. My only experience with repurposing a desktop computer power supply, I only wanted the 5v rail (maybe it was 3v3), and it wasn't happy without dra...

Re: Power strip (5+ outlets) with a weekly timer?
The sonoffs are great for how cheap they are. One thing to note is that the older models don't have an Earth ground pass through, and you're going to want your driver and frame grounded. I think all the POWs do (at least mine do). I can't speak to their reliability, as I've only had one running with...

Re: Repurposing Laptop/Electronics power supplies
This thread is exactly what I registered a forum account to inquire about! I have a lot of computer power supplies that range from 400 to 600 watts. One thing that I haven't been able to figure out, which also isn't covered in this thread, is how to determine if the power supplies are constant volt...

Re: Hydroponic veggie flavor.
DWC is probably going to get you faster growth, I just didnt find it simple enough, checking and correcting the pH of the reservoir twice a day. I personally wouldn't go back to (R)DWC unless I had a big enough system that I could justify $$ on a pH probe & dosing pump. Coco you only need to check t...

Re: Hydroponic veggie flavor.
I grew some hydroponic cherry tomatoes last summer. I never liked Cherry Tomatoes in the past, but these things were like candy. Could've just been the fresh picked factor that Fishsticks mentioned. Grew them in 1 Gal pots of coco, fed 4-6x a day on a timer with Calcium Nitrate + MaxiBloom + a powde...
