QB120 x 3 - Safe distance above plants?
Sorry if this belongs in a different forum section... I just put together a setup with 3 x 3000K QB120 boards, so ~185 watts. Setup is in picture below. Grow Cabinet w LED Lights.jpg Can anyone tell me what the minimum safe height would be so that I don't cause my tips to burn? I'm also a bit worrie...

Re: 4 x QB120 - Power Supply suggestions
Finally received all parts, and have my light assembled! Its only been in place a couple hours, so not sure yet how well it will work. Grow Cabinet w LED Lights.jpg I have 3 QB120's wired in parallel using thermostat wire (18/2 solid core) to an HLG-185H-24A supply. The mounting board is 1/8" alumin...

Re: QB120 Questions
You shouldn’t need sinks for these. Its better to do home runs for each board because you lose a considerable amount of voltage but chaining through the molecular connectors and it also puts the full current of the circuit through the connectors and trace of the first board in the circuit, which is...

QB120 Questions
I've purchased one of the 4 packs of QB120 (3000K) boards from Amazon, and a HLG-185H-24A supply, along withsome connectors. Last night I started rigging things up to make sure things work as expected, and was happily surprised at the ease of putting things together, as well as brightness of the lig...

Re: 4 x QB120 - Power Supply suggestions
That's more than enough power for your square footage, but the unusual dimensions of your space wouldn't be well suited to the layout of that light. The boards have very tight diode spacing, and they would be fairly close together, so the ends of your cabinet would see too little light. In order to...

Re: 4 x QB120 - Power Supply suggestions
I run mine at almost 2700 with no heatsinks and they stay cool enough that I can leave my hand on the back of the board indefinitely, so I would expect so? But it wouldn't hurt to add some aluminum plate to the build, just to make sure. Edit: I believe that HLG has been very conservative with their...

Re: 4 x QB120 - Power Supply suggestions
If it were my space, I'd probably opt for an HLG-185H-24A and just three of the boards, which should give a solid 200w. At 33w/sq ft, he'd be right on point with the average that most QB growers use. Also, fitting four QB120s in a 4' wide space will be a tight fit, which could hamper airflow. Lastl...

4 x QB120 - Power Supply suggestions
I'm new to the hobby, and looking for advice. My grow box is 18" x 4ft by 4 ft (see image), and I have a 125W compact CFL that seems to be working for my single plant, but probably won't be much use for flowering. Eventually might try to fit as many as 4 plants in the box. I'm looking at purchasing ...

Another Canadian DIY COB Noob thread
Greetings! So, another noob thread. I've read so many forum posts and DIY articles that my head is swimming... :? I've built a 'grow box' out of 3/4" plywood - 4 ft tall x 4 ft wide x 18 inches deep. Basically, the largest I could build with two 4 x 8 sheets of plywood. Inside painted flat white, po...
