Re: LEDs for a 10x20in tray
Sphagnum bogs ( example pic )are acidic and deprived of nutrients, which is why they don't grow almost any trees or tall foliage. Sphagnum can grow in full sun, and in my experience, growing it in shade leads to small/weak strands and poor coloration. Since sphagnum is a moss and has no root system...

Re: Is there an inexpensive light intensity or par meter?
You can get the relational info to balance things, but probably not the real intensity figures.

Re: Cookies Kush - making seeds
No it would not. This is not changing the genetic of the plant, its just suppressing the flowering hormone, which brings out the male trait in cannabis. The male trait is already there in the background, but bud growers select against it, so among western inside growers its considered a breeder fail...

Re: Pheno tester light
Yes, I think you are quite right. To get significant results with quality, UV seems to be the holy grail for now. I partially share your belief that even choosing the most different spectrum's possible, it will not yield huge differences, but at the same time I expect some cultivars to surprise on t...

Re: LEDs for a 10x20in tray
Are you sure that it was temperature, not light intensity that burned the moss? A quick search did not reveil what mosses daily light dose (DLI) is, but it does not like direct sunlight, so I imagine its not too high. I ran 2 2foot EB's with a 40w driver over a 40x80cm tray, I guess a bit less then ...

Re: Europe custom DIY Fixtures
Here are the tunable strips, and yes the 97cri channel will have lower overall efficiency. https://www.cutter.com.au/product/sol-strip-br-nic/ The ones I want to test are the last ones on the list. I've been growing with 80 and 90 cri for a while now, and if I had to send buds for a photoshoot, they...

Re: Europe custom DIY Fixtures
Cutter has 80cri strips that give around 220lm/w... thats a couple of generations ahead of samsungs offerings. If your looking for a compromise towards efficiency, I just made plans to build what I would expect to be the ultimate efficiency machine. I'm about to travel and give the light to a friend...

Re: Mixing EB Gen2 and Gen3
There is a difference, but despite the market being flooded from red-supplemented fixtures, nobody is actually able to quantify what the difference would be. The general explanations are just the basic theory on red lights role in horticulture... but in horticulture they really study Blue/red ratios...

Re: Europe custom DIY Fixtures
I received an email from someone saying they moved to a closed forum, so I would assume thats what he did too.
Is there any reason you want the fixture to be DIY? I don't think there is anything out there which is as sexy as cutters tunable offerings. I did want to try the prawn boards too though.

Re: Pheno tester light
Just thinking of a light that would give an overview of a chosen clone... so if I do a pheno hunt, and find something interesting, my first study would be sticking 4 clones into the pheno tester, to get a feeling of how it reacts to different light characteristics. I feel stretch, bulk, node distanc...
