Re: Drivers for Sol-Skin 2 channel board?

I have various thicknesses available. I was going to go for 2.5mm, which is a bit less than 1/8", but I can get 4mm for not much more and that's close to 1/8". Thanks for the air hole suggestion, too. Since Cutter says an aluminium sheet is enough at 700mA, I will probably stick with that and maybe ...

Re: "LM561C" Boards and Strips from Bright and thoughts on dealing with Shenzen mfg's

Exactly. The Shenzhen manufacturers on Alibaba kept giving me weird chip names and suspicious datasheets, which really put me off. I went with a reputable redistributor of strips and will be doing a DIY build. It's worth knowing what you're getting.

Re: Drivers for Sol-Skin 2 channel board?

Exactly. These put out 195lm/w, so they are at least theoretically more efficient than the EB strips, too. I can't wait to put it all together! I still need to order the aluminium sheet and thermal paste/tape. I've read that paste has better heat transfer, but thermal tape is certainly easier to use...

Re: Drivers for Sol-Skin 2 channel board?

Well, I ended up going with something else altogether. 8x 2' Cree 3000k LED Strips with 112 diodes each @ 48V, 1.25A max AUD$14.16 each 1x ZPE PF-P250CC-C070-S-DM (250w, 700mA Constant Current Driver) AUD$83.55 I can also source a 600mm*600mm aluminium sheet for around $20, which should be just enou...

Re: Drivers for Sol-Skin 2 channel board?

I assume you're talking about mains power? If so, it's all 240v here, so that's not a problem at all.

Re: Drivers for Sol-Skin 2 channel board?

I think I'd go with 10-12 of the 560mm strips. The next task will be trying to find suitable drivers domestically!

Re: Drivers for Sol-Skin 2 channel board?

Thank you. This makes a lot more sense. I think I was confused by the fact that it has multiple channels. I managed to get my head around some calculations for other boards and follow the LED Gardener tutorials, but this Sol-Skin was confusing me! My room is 80cm*80cm, so I think the one board with ...

Re: Drivers for Sol-Skin 2 channel board?

I've tried corresponding with the manufacturer, but I haven't really received the specs straight up. From what I understand, each individual channel is 48v and meant to be run with a separate driver. I think the Samsung were an older model or a prototype, but they now offer models with both Nichia a...

Re: Drivers for Sol-Skin 2 channel board?

The idea is no heatsinking, or minimal heatsinking, such as an aluminium sheet. I can also have a fan blowing over them for some active cooling.

Re: Drivers for Sol-Skin 2 channel board?

Wow, that was quick!

Here are the specs: http://www.cutter.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=cut3358

They sell a 3-channel dimmer/driver controller, but it's a bit expensive and still needs a 48v power supply.
