Watercooled PC case build I made

Discuss COBs or any other types of LEDs that don’t fit the other categories (Cree, Citizen, Migro, etc.).

Hey guys, I'm a design engineer who has played a lot with grow builds over the years, mostly just for the fun of building them. I end up selling them for way too cheap, but the experience gained and the satisfaction of making stuff is invaluable.

Check out this mini DWC PC case I built.

It was initially fitted with two 100W Chinese "full spectrum" cobs from SGrow, I then swapped those out for two 50 watters. One of them is still an SGrow full spectrum, the other is an 80% full spectrum, 20% cool white from some other aliexpress supplier (forgot who).

Features include a bunch of 3d printed bracketry for mounting various bits, carbon filter panels as used in air cleaning vacuum things for soldering, 240mm radiator, 4 x Noctua 120mm fans, touchscreen fan and water pump controller with temp readout at copper water block, LCD screen for post COB coolant temp, another LCD for air temp, flow speed indicator, 3d printed shroud, corflute DWC res folded up and glued with hot glue gun, and internally sealed with silicone... ummm, and yeah. Built with attention to detail :)

These pics were taken just before actually being finished. All I really added was some white diffuse material to the inside walls of the case.

Oh one more thing... popped the Apogee SQ520 Quantum meter under the 50W COBs that are in there now with 90 degree lenses... the "full spectrum" SGrow cob was hitting 1600ppfd at approximately 8" height from sensor, the 80% full spectrum 20% cold white was only getting about 1000ppfd at the same height.

Rear wiring including two drivers, 12V power supply for fans etc, 5V step down transformer for one of the LCDs, digital timer in 3d printed housing with fused connections inside, all unpluggable etc.

Don't stare straight into the COBs!

Haha I was gonna say, you might get a zap or a burn somewhere you'd probably rather avoid 😂
