Vero 18 build advice

Discuss COBs or any other types of LEDs that don’t fit the other categories (Cree, Citizen, Migro, etc.).

Hey LED heads

Going to be building a light for my 600 x 600 tent (2ft by 2ft :) )

Got a good deal on the Artic Alpine heat sinks, 6 quid each!! So bought 5 of them.

Looking to run 5 vero 18's with a HLG-185H-C1050B‎, with a dimmer. I'm thinking 4 x 3000k and 1x 2700k in the middle, or maybe the lower meat chip ?

But the real question is what Vero 18's? I know I want the SE variety, but what flavour B, C, or D ?

At the moment I have both B and C types in my cart, help me choose between the 2 lol

What are the advantages/disadvantages.

Thanks for any advice

the link is to a pdf for the vero 28 line up. on page 2 of the pdf you'll see a map of the nomenclatures used in product labeling explaining that the B and c ect..is the configuration of the array. Im not sure what each one is but this is a place to start for you to perhaps google it or hopefully someone alot smarter than me can come in and fill in the gaps. Well I hope it helps a little.

Vero 18 C's are the best performers but also slightly pricier.

It might come down to availability for you.

I have a fitting I built for a 4x2 space using 6x 3500k 80cri and 2x 2700k 90cri. Choices pretty much came down to availability.

The meat chip has such low efficiency compared to the rest, 90cri 2700/3000 has a good chunk of red for sure.

Hey thanks for the replies.

Very helpfull.

So after spending sometime looking/shopping around here's what I've come up with......

6 vero 18's (yep bought another heatsink lol) 4x 4000k 2 x 2700.

Wired as 2 strings of 3 and driven by 1 x HLG240H-C2100B

Now if I have this correct, that should give me 214.8w of LED at 1050ma (max), with the option to dim to what ever level works best. Hopefully somewhere in the 700-800ma range.

If this doesn't look right don't hesitate to pipe up :D

Thanks again for the help

I'll post a pic when it's done if I can get it neat enough

If you take a look at the performance curves in the datasheet, at 800mA. and 1050mA. the best performer is the B.
4x4000k is too much, in my opinion, for a full grow cycle.
