Also, anyone have a link of where to purchase the gen 4 cob? Digikey Canada only has gen 3

Thanks for the link, but those are CXM 22's. We can get those here in Canada too.

Cheers,

I met with Tom Jory from luminous yesterday to request a few samples to test.
Just to confirm with you guys what samples of luminous you want me to test,
3K cri80 and 3k Cri90, also 4k cri80 and 4k Cri90 35k cri 80. All CXM32

@Teknik How are you about mentioned test? Now I am looking for COBs for my vivarium/paludarium project and was wandering about high CRI >90 COB with 4000 K to get pleasant look. Your results will be very helpful.

Sorry, I have not tested them yet. I have had a busy past year.
I did speak with luminus about this when I was in Hong Kong last year and they are happy to send whatever I request to conduct testing for you guys.

Most people do not use cobs now days due to the lower performance and difficulty with heat dissipation.
I will try and get some samples soon and time to test them but don't hold your breath.
Optisolis strips in 5000k will have a much better spectrum of clear light If you wanted something nice.
CRI90 does lack the cyan and still seems artificial.
Optisolis actually seems like sunlight.
It is difficult to explain how much clearer the light is under 5000k optisolis.

Thank you for fast reply. I will take a look on this. I was wondering about COBs because I want to prevent light glare and water surface reflection.

It is difficult to water reflection. One thing I hope to do in the near future is make a cost effective system that can actually be placed into the water to maximize penetration.
You can purchase lenses to fit many of the strips to prevent glare in general.
If you used a lens in conjunction with a wide C channel aluminum extrusion that would double as a heatsink it would be a good option and give good coverage.
Maybe check out Ledil linear lenses

@TEKNIK have you had a chance to test the CXM-XX-HM series of chip? the datasheet show its a gen 3 chip but apparently from Michael and Daniel at Luminus the HM series of chip has more energy in the spectrums most plants need to grow than the CXM-XX of gen4.

Sorry, I have not tested them. Its unlikely that a gen3 will be more efficient than the gen4

Spectrum can be different but that doesnt mean it will be more efficient
If you want to compare the different generations then compare 3000K cri90
If the gen 4 is more efficient then thats just how it is.

I know luminus made some horticultural COBs, better off with the standard in 3000k cri90 as they will be more efficient
