Cheap flower initiation diodes (end of day treatment, far red 730nm)

Discuss COBs or any other types of LEDs that don’t fit the other categories (Cree, Citizen, Migro, etc.).

Since FR has such good leaf penetration, position should not matter that much, imho!

Got my drivers today...
That was superfast from TME :D
didn't expect that they are so small... nice!
Now just diodes...

Found this bulb for 22 cad, for 15 minutes twice a day should be worth a try.

You need to make sure that there is nothing below 700nm or very very little for EOD

There is a spectral breakdown of the light on the webpage, 3.82% at 600 nm and below 600 nm looks tiny. What I like is there is a decent mix from 600 to 1000 nm, if true a much better alternative and representation of natural light than expensive diodes with relatively narrow bandwidths that are only present in 660, 740 and 840 nm wavelengths. EOD in nature probably has a much higher portion of blue to orange in it than this thing at the end of the day.

Here is their 5 watts led photobiomodulation bulb good for 120 or 240 volt.

If I undestand right... this bulb is not good for Emmerson effect...
Like Teknik said... all below 700nm is not good for this...
End of the day has good spectrum in nature... but indoor is not helping plants to go fast in the sleep mode like only 700-750nm.
The only BULB I found good for this is from HLG

I was making flower initiator flood lights nearly 10 years ago.
You need to get the spread and the easiest and cheapest way to do this is to spread out mono LEDs.
If it is just for EOD they don't need to be efficient leds as you are only running them for 15 minutes.

Sure a bulb is nice but you would need to hang it high to get the spread and with a strip build the lights are in the way of a bulb that is hung high

Osash, from the spec sheet more than 95% of bulb's wavelength is between 700-1000 nm.

Teknik, if your light is solid across then hang one at each corner and point inwards on plants. If your light has gaps as I would assume most on here to have, mount it between the strips - the led bulb is 2" in diameter, my gaps are about 2.5-3.5" for an unimpeded beam on plants. If the focal distance is wrong then go back to mounting on the outside corners to get the right distance. It doesn't have to be spread out evenly, we aren't building a rocket ship here, especially for 15 minutes. Price is cheaper than mono's as you'd need a separate driver and a bunch of supplies to get built.

Efficiency for 15 minutes is irrelevant.

Hmm... and that 5% is ok?
Nice than :D
I'm not expert just trying to figure out the right thing :D
