4 x clu048 1212c4 with hlg-185h-c1400a

Discuss COBs or any other types of LEDs that don’t fit the other categories (Cree, Citizen, Migro, etc.).

Hi all,

I'm considering a build using 4 x clu048 1212c4 with hlg-185h-c1400a driven @1400mA. The driver selection tool says it's cool, however the datasheet suggests that one should use 1080 mA. Also, according to the datasheet, at 1400 mA the voltage on the cob goes to 37 V, so it would put it outside of the hlg-185 driver's capabilities (4 x 37 = 148 V, and the driver max. is 143).

I kinda think that given the voltage drops at higher operating temps (which is what the selection tool assumes - 60 degrees), it could work, but then - when the cobs are starting up, the temps are close to ambient so it would fall outside the driver's range anyway.

Any help highly appreciated guys.

The data sheet doesn't suggest anything, it is just the result of tests to accomplish some standards and it is for reference only.
I have the same fixture, 4 clu048 1212c4 with the same driver.
Also this driver have a over voltage protection 160-170v so it can handle the initial voltage.
