a 4x4 light set up question

Hello, I am building a 4x4 light and I have settled somewhat on a design. A frame that's around 3x3' in size, with 2 qb288 r spec boards for the middle of the fixture and I want to put 4(maybe 6) lights on the outside of the fixture for the most uniform possible. I am wondering If I should get cob's instead of a growmaus puck because they are way cheaper, and I am fine with needing a few more watts to achieve the same light output if it means saving me a bunch at the start. Can I achieve the same light output and spread with 4-6 cobs(vero, citizen) as I could with 4 more expensive groumaus pucks?
