I was under the assumption I could run up to 9 of the clu048 1212 cobs on a hlg 480h c1400b, have tried the online calculator and it doesn't show the driver is able too run these, although 4 will run on a 185h c1400b, am I correct thinking the hlg 480h c1400b driver should run 8 of these fine, could I run 10 of them would they be 48w each, thankyou for any help

Which online calculator are you referring to?

The CLU48-1212-C4 specs show these cobs run at ~36V at 1.4A, so 8 of them would be 288V, which is under the hlg-480-c1400's 343V limit and should work fine, giving you ~400W.

"CLU-1212 is a nominal 36V COB which can operate up to 2.76A max (approximately 100W). Best efficiency is seen below 50W"

"HLG-480H-C1400B = 171 ~ 343Vf
  • 384 Watts (80% Io) @ 411 Vdc(120% Vo)... Page #3 of Datasheet"

8 COBs * 36 Vf = 288 Vdc * 1.4 A = 403.2 watts
9 COBs * 36 Vf = 324 Vdc * 1.4 A = 453.6 watts
  • 10 COBs * 36 Vf = 360 Vdc (>343V) * ~ 1.26 A = ~ 456.2 watts
