Hello everyone!

Today is a big day for me because today I'm joining officially the DIY LED community! My 32x F564B from Digikey just arrived!
After months of research throught forums, videos, etc. I decided to go with the Linear Strips Build. The light uniformity, energy efficiency and build overall cost were the main reasons I have picked this build.

Over the course of the next weeks I will assemble this build and keep this thread updated. In less than a month the light will be completed and turned on :D

This is my contribute to the DIY LED community. I hope this thread might help someone in the future as many others helped me in the past.

[EDIT1]: Wagos and Wire just arrived. Made a few changes in the build between drivers and number of strips.
[EDIT2]: The last 4 strips and thermal switch have arrived. Frame, screws, multimeter and thermal paste are next!
[EDIT3]: Only "2 x Mean Well HLG-320H-48A" missing. Frame is already built, just need a few fixes and its good to go. Connected my first driver last night and it is awesome! Only one driver and it almost made me blind :D
[EDIT4]: All items have arrived. I'm hoping to finish the light this weekend and share with you some pics.
[EDIT5]: Light completed.

yeah yeah, that's what's up! Looks like you will be running each strip at 23W with 500mA? That must be very efficient! :D

Awwwwwwwesome!

Thank you for sharing and can’t wait to see the rest of the build. I haven’t seen an ultra-low power build like this yet - I’ll be very eager to see what you think. Those suckers are going to run crazy efficient.

SICK!

This thing is going to be a beast. I think this the biggest strip project Ive seen yet in terms of wattage. Im very curious to see how youre going to frame the fixture.

holy shit thats a big strip build. subbed to see this thing. how did you pick how many strips for yoru 5x5?
I picked the number of strips based on the aprox. total wattage and current per diode.

Is this the correct parallel wiring to avoid thermal runway, voltage drop, etc. bullshit? :P

Thanks in advance!

That would definitely work. I did something like this for my build, essentially each strip had its own three-port connector. One port the line going in, one port to the strip and one port for the next connector. You'd have to do the same thing for the - wire, but the jist is the same.

There is no wiring scheme other than wiring in series which will avert thermal runaway, but your strips are wired in series on the PCB already.

Thanks for the reply Ted! :)

I'm thinking about wiring a multimeter.

I'm in Europe we use 220-240V. Would this one work?

Is the intent only to measure the AC input power from the wall? If so, this would work. Kill-a-watts are sweet too.

Second that. I use the same model (ordered from China).
You can probably settle for the 20A version to save a couple of quid.
