Day 17: Starting to hit their stride.

Today is the big push to get tent setups done, decide/setup dwc air, start making 75-100gal of ro, decide which plants go where,...

Yip, while you get this shit show on the road, something tells me you will like those not so free PC boards I sent ya ;)

10 days since flip, I dunno if its the boards or that Mycodiarrhea stuff Prawn made me add. I'd like to see them if temp (21C max), ph (5.9), ec(2.2), rh(>75%), ppfd (850-950),w(460/4 at panel) and all that stuff you crap on about were good

Seems to me this threads getting a few more stoners smokin in, nice to see some of your groupies turning up Sensei Lightningbolt
Seems some of my crapon is sinkin into that kiwi noggin...nice flat top there dude!

But, can you do me one favor....i hate that yellow light...try taking your pics with the flash on...
don't get OG started about yellow light pictures

Heeeeeere’s Mama!

10 mains, 4-5 node pairs.

This plant is a mutant. Yellowish top on back right is the 2nd main stem that came up during germination. Has acted differently than other stem/mains since the getgo...

Been pushin her hard: getting ppfd up to 600, 18:6; ec above 1.0 (droopiness; slight clawing). Will change out water, do short flush, re-nute tomorrow, and flip as soon as the clones go into final tents.

Ok, let’s get the dwc oxygen/airstone issue out of the way...

Tested each bucket:

Using this meter:
860D9C12-93DB-4787-8304-E61FC0E50684.jpeg
All 4 buckets are at 9ppm O2.

Top 2 buckets (2 airlines, 2 large stones) are bubbling most vigorously, followed by bottom left (2 airlines, each split into 2 at bucket; 4 large airstones), followed by the front right bucket (same as bottom left, except medium airstones).

In previous grows, i’ve been concerned about roots obstructing bubble flow with the 2 stone setup, eventhough the 2 stone setup is most vigirous in an empty bucket.

So, this grow i’m going with the 4 large stone setup; aiming for better bubble coverage.

Is your system recirculating? Or does each bucket have it's own nutrient solution? With a recirculating system, you can do away with the air pumps and just have a waterfall effect into the buckets.

It's agitation at the surface (breaking of surface tension) that exchanges oxygen, not the bubbles that travel through it. So any amount of air produced at the bottom of the bucket will still make its way to the surface where air is exchanged - regardless of root formation. The more surface tension you can break, the more gas exchange there will be.

Here I am just trying to keep my plants alive and this guy's getting his bubble coverage dialed in

I know. I have a pretty basic grow in comparison. I used to run DWC, but I switched to coco because it's a lot less hassle. With DWC you constantly have to manage your nutrient and pH, empty your reservoirs every week or two, and try to manage reservoir temps in summer and winter to optimise growth. If you have an air pump failure, you don't have much time in summer to replace it before your roots start to drown.

Coco provides a great buffer. You fill your res, set your pH and forget about it. If your pump fails, you usually have a couple of days before the pots run dry and there are no ill-effects until they dry out completely. Coco is not far behind DWC in terms of growth. But if I was going to go all-out, I'd build an aeroponic system.
