LED design for 5 x 5 tent

The main difference between the 304 and the 288 is the voltage they run at. The difference in diode count is pretty well negligible. The 304 is a 110V board and the 288 is a 54V board.

HLG makes 2 heat sinks that will support 4 boards - the Slate 4 and Slate 5. I have not yet done PPFD measurements for these kits but I do have one of each and intend to do this soon.

the 288 QB runs at 54V. The 304 is something around 115V. the main difference is how they are wired together.

The 288 you can wire in series and parallel. The 304 since the take twice the volts are harder to match driver for running more than two in series.. every build I see 304 they are wired parallel.

if you want a 8 board heat sink you probably could easily make one out of 1/8 in aluminum. just got to drill/tap the holes yourself. that will be the biggest pain about DIYing it. HLG has two slate heat sinks that can hold 4 QB's. (slate 4 & 5) Slate 4 is a 2 foot square and the slate 5 is something around 30 in by 15.5 in or so.( not all the dimensions for the slate 5 are on the site. I asked robin awhile ago but forgot what size he told me)

No, it's practically nothing. The main difference is voltage and which drivers you can match which board to.

I saw the HLG-600 but had some thoughts about it.
The HLG-600 is recommended for a flowering footprint of 5 X 5.
This is 4 QB 288 on a slate 5 which is 740mm X 390mm (that's about 2,7 ft x 1,3 ft).
Correct me if i get the conversion wrong.

Is this light getting enough PPFD in the corners of a 5 X 5 tent???

Do you mean the HLG 550? Here is a ppfd measurement video in a 4x4 and it was low in the corners.

I wondered about that also. your conversion right it's roughly 30in by 16in. that's why I'm trying single heat sinks on a frame. I can move them where I want them...

reading thru this again with the full 8 boards I was planning 3 on front and back rows with 2 in the middle. all I did for first and last rows was figure out the left over length and split it for even spacing on the 4 foot (120cm) rail. was planning same for two in the middle.

Lately though I've been looking at photon fantoms 36volt boards. 5 of those would fit on a driver. that way I would have 9 boards over 8. should get better spread and get my added colors.
