They make a good addition to a veg bloom light. Using a mixture of vesta and eb gen 2.

Good for veg/bloom, and good for ability to cut stretch in bloom. For someone on a really tight budget, it has great potential as a 3850k blaster. 9 vestas cost me less then 80$ and I could run them at 450w, 3850k @50%, or nominal. I didn't choose based on price, but could imagine someone doing so.

My plan is to run only 5k for veg and mix 2700k 90 cri, and 3500k 80 cri in the bloom. And I can use one or the other to up the photons in veg or bloom if needed.

Has anyone put a plant under these lights already? I just got 12 in today. They will be setup soon, to be tested alongside lmc561c S5 and S6.
I really like the vestas, the both channel spectrum looks very nice, its like flatened in comparison to both standard 80 and 90 cri. That to me makes sense as it is similar in nature to sunlight, no big dips in the spectrum and plenty of both red and far red.
Also, the posibility to run both red leaning, blue leaning and middle leaning spectrum using smart paralell connections on the same driver makes this a winner for me.
Anyone with their vestas all setup and gorwing?

I've just built a fixture using 8 one foot Vesta strips and two of the cheap Digikey Thomas Research drivers.
All mounted on 25mm x 2.0mm aluminium square sections in a frame. Works out at 375mA per channel.
One driver per colour channel means I have spectrum control.
The amount of wiring required given the dual channels is insane. I don't think I'd use them again based on this alone!! Even given the stupid low price.
Have had it over two autoflowering plants for about a week now and they look happy.

I had my last run under them for the last week, and it was clear that the penetration was way superior to what I had before. Then about a week ago we had a few days of 1-5c nights, so I moved about 20 chilis and tomatoes under them, and they did fine.
Only problem was environment, as the space I used was still behaving like a old school potato cellar... very cold. The radiant heat from the HID's was enough to counter the coolness of the space, so even adding 800w of heating didn't seem to correct the environmental factor.
Now I need to rethink everything to find the most efficient way to dial in my environment with the leds...

Nice! thats just about 9w per channel. Must be running cool. I have 10 TRP drivers, and while I find myself delaying the work, when I get to it everything seems to go quite fast and smooth. My main problems were in sourcing aluminum, or basically buying anything in this socialist paradise.

Now that I'm only growing tomatoes, cucumbers and chilies in the greenhouse, should I stick my light in to give supplemental lighting to half the greenhouse? Seems like it might be useless since we already have over 20h of light per day during this season... would I need to supplement CO2 to expect results with extra light?
