For people interested in spectrum variation, I've added a feature to my Kiasmos project.

You'll be able to modify the power of a driver over time. This could be very useful for people wanting a slow decrease of blue during the vegetative growth. I'll probably add a color temperature calculator for the Vesta strip.

Finland they do it a lot too... A local greenhouse near my house way talking about how plants can't use all the light available right now. I guess CO2 would be needed :)

Need a meanwell... Would the software allow me to use a single driver and connect everything, and still be able to control the frequency, or would I need two drivers as usual?

Get a suitable CV driver, for example hlg185-54A (for connecting 2 vestas in series, using 2 foot vestas in this example). Connect the 2 red channels together and blue channels like wise. Then: Red in, red out, blue in, blue out all go to separate wagos, lets say 5 way wagos for 4 channels (8 strips in total). Then your driver: connect it up (in and out) to 2 3way wagos. 1 for the driver and one slot each for the red 5way wago and the blue wago.

Your driver will no send equal amount, about 100w (or 12.5w per strip ) thru each of the channels for mid spectrum, 3850k. If you remove 1 of connection from the 3 way wago (or you can even install a simple light switch) the driver will now push 200 watts (or 25w) thru the remaining channel for full power red or blue. Not sure if this makes sense. Its all about grouping the channels in paralell acording to channel, and then having a way to let them share the current, or use full power in one channel. Of course this wont allow for gradual change, just full and 50/50. Havent tried it yet but i got all the stuff sourced. Just waiting for a friend to pick up some alu.

I really like the vestas, the both channel spectrum looks very nice, its like flatened in comparison to both standard 80 and 90 cri. That to me makes sense as it is similar in nature to sunlight, no big dips in the spectrum and plenty of both red and far red.

I had my last run under them for the last week, and it was clear that the penetration was way superior to what I had before. (2x400w HID, or 730w sulfur plasma) I also put some alpine strawberries which to my surprise grew better then the ones outside.
Then about a week ago we had a few days of 1-5c nights, so I moved about 20 chilis and tomatoes under them, and they did fine.

Only problem was environment, as the space I used was still behaving like a old school potato cellar... very cold. The radiant heat from the HID's was enough to counter the coolness of the space, so even adding 800w of heating didn't seem to correct the environmental factor.
Now I need to rethink everything to find the most efficient way to dial in my environment with the leds...
If youre having problems to heat your space then HID is the way to go, hands down.

In this case even the HID was a bandaid, although a very usefull one. Environment needs to get dialed in either case.

Mmmh, I'm don't know if there is an electronic "module" capable of doing this... Nothing that I'm aware of... sadly. But if peoples find a cheaper dimmable power supply, I can probably add support for it.

I think my issue, and driver choice is pretty marginal... I do think a few people here went for the same drivers... It's a Thomas Research Products driver, which for whatever reason was about 12e on digikey, while all the other drivers of the same series had already bumped to 30e.
I was discussing with someone that their software didn't work with other then meanwell... The driver I have is logarithmic, so I think the dimming is different.

I have 9 vesta strips, and 6 drivers, so each 75w driver feeds 1 side of 3 Vesta's.

Here's a thread on the drivers I got. At the beginning of the thread there are still multiple choices, but towards the end only one remained cheap.

I just want to double check the driver & the vesta count before ordering them to support vesta spectrum simulation in Kiasmos:

2x HLG-100H-24B with 16 vestas drived softly looks ok?

Your thinking about the 2 footers? That sounds like you will run them very soft. I was feeding 25w per strip, 12.5w per foot. Minor heatsink, pretty much like a u-channel, running very cool. Now I'm reconfiguring so I will feed 37.5w per strip, 18.75w per foot, I still expect it to run cool.

Is that driver max 24v out?
