ELG vs HLG

Is there any specific reason to choose a HLG driver over an ELG? When I look at the test reports the ELG seem more powerful?
Example: ELG 240-24A has a reported maximum current of 12.33A while it's only 10.845 for the HLG version.
Does it hurt the driver in any way to run at max possible current?

I've been told that themax output actually varies. Your driver could be capable of a percentage of over max, but not all drivers are the same. At least that's from what I've researched, and have been told.

I think the line has a shorter warranty, and it's cheaper. That should say a lot. Havn't heard much reports of drivers breaking, so perhaps it makes no difference

I sure do hope that the ELG 240 c1750 can power 4 QB132 from HLG. I just clicked home both things and realized that I I screwed up the second I did it. Go impulse control eh?
Any who, is there any chance that this will even power up?
Can I perhaps make it work by removing some diodes?

The elg runs at max on 220+ volts. If your on 110 like me. It only,runs at 75% of max.

My house has both 110v and 220v. Things like the dryer runs on 220.

Yeah, if you want the elg to run at 100% you're going to have to use it with 220 volts. The ELG looked very enticing to me until I learned this. I mean, I have 220 volts also, but it would be a pain in the ass to try to use the dryer circuit which is all the way across the house.

I went with the LRS series for now. I have 12 QB132s. I run 8 on two LRS-350-36, and 4 on two LRS-150-36.

Hi, I know this thread is a bit old, but I was wondering if that driver actually worked for your QB132s? It says the max voltage for that driver is 143 volts, and if you add the four boards together they make 144 volts, so it's close. I was curious because I was thinking of buying one. Please let me know. Thanks.

One thing to add on the ELG is their THD or total harmonic distortion is significantly higher than the HLG line. This degrades the light coming from LED's and there is evidence (don't hold me to this) that it lowers lifespan of LED's.

For me the main difference between ELG and HLG is that ELG drivers are dimmable to off.
