The square tube is a great idea to allow you to cut the heat sinks to almost the same length as the strips themselves. Wouldn’t work too well with the U-channel.

I was having issues with the double sided thermal tape

So I went with thermal paste and those self drilling screws.

Another advantage with the square tubing is a nice backing to mount the driver to

The 1/16th inch thickness kept the total weight down and overall this seems to be a better solution for my 2'x4' tent.

I will reconfigure the other section in the upcoming weeks and should be a nice even blanket of photons across the canopy. I might add some of the end caps for looks

Hello,

Sorry to dig out old thread but i have a question related to those strips and dont want to start a new thread.

My current setup is 10x 560mm EB gen2 5000k powered from hlg-185h-c700a and im using that to light up two trays 50x100cm that have 45cm head space (total height 180cm).

I would like to add some strips and driver (or change driver for new one) as I would like to double my trays (they are at different level ).

I was thinking two options:

A) add same second driver, increase strips by 6. That would make of 4 strips per tray. Individual level driven @ 80W or...
B) change driver to hlg-240h-1400a add 6 strips and run each light @60W

It's for my VEG tent and it would double the trays I have now. Please forgive the mess. I had to set this up in a hurry...

Maybe it will help someone.

Went with another 185h-c700a driver and added few strips.

New setup looks like that:

2x 185h- c700a
16x eb gen2 5000k 560mm strips
8x eb gen2 5000k 280mm strips

Nice layout! I like how you incorporated the 280mm strips. Thanks for sharing where you ended up!
