i have 6 bridgelux BXEB-L0280Z-50E1000-C-B3 for a bonsai mother and clones will this be enough for a 280 x 650 mm grow space ?
looking at the ppf calcs
.28x.65 = 0.18 m2
1.8 * 40 PPF (Veg) = 72 PPF / 18 PPF/Strip = 4 Strips
think this will depend on height of strips from plants from my understanding and would nee to be 3-4 inches away from them
need to look at what watts to run them at have a hlg 60h 20b for them and i know it over for what i have but was what i could find at the time
dose this look correct ?
thanks in advance

The numbers look good to me...Stu wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 10:51 pmi have 6 bridgelux BXEB-L0280Z-50E1000-C-B3 for a bonsai mother and clones will this be enough for a 280 x 650 mm grow space ?

And the driver can be dimmed down for the 6 Strips @ ~ 30 Watts (50%)..,
You're welcome.
At least 31 - 32 Watts from the Wall (89% driver efficiency, add 11% ~ 3 Watts to the 28 Watts for the LED), at this power for 6 Strips the LEDs should be running very "Soft" and "Cool". The distance to canopy is probably more like 6 - 8 inches, but it should be measured with a relatively accurate inexpensive Lux Meter (Digital, Silicon Diode, 0 - 200K Lux range) or a PAR meter if available. Happen to have a few Bridgelux Gen2 5000K (560mm) strips on hand, can connect three, measure at 30 watts and report back later this week...

BTW, the Gen2 BXEB -280mm 5000K strips are ~ PPF 15 - 17 (umol/s) @ 7.0 Watts... [ 1107 Lm * 0.014 = 15.49 umol/s ]
Test Light with three (3) Bridgelux Gen2 BXEB-560 mm, 5000K strips at 32 and 67 Watts after 2 hours warm up..
Strips are mounted on ~ 76 mm (3 inch) Centers
Drop off / decrease in light intensity from center to edge of footprint (~ 300mm x 660 mm) is less than ~ 500 Lux (~ 7.0 umol/m2/s)

thanks for the reading have just got a lux meter and will take some readings from it at different distances and post them up i have been running these for 5 days and very impressed with the strips for the wattage just a thought seen that ppl run them with in 3" off the canopy so will take a reading there as well

BTW, Am puzzled that more "Growers" are not making use of Lux Meters (Digital) to adjust the heights of their Light Fixtures, especially when using White Light Sources, their use was normal procedure / practice, measuring HID and Greenhouse Lighting for calculating DLI (Daily Light Integral) for decades. Lux measurements are directly relative to PAR PPFD (umol/m2/s) for any specific Visible Light Source, all that is needed is the conversion factor (PPF/Lm) for the specific light source, e.g., 80 CRI, 5000K White Phosphor Converted LED are 0.013 - 0.014 PPF/Lm.
