Hey, guys/girls.

So I'm trying a new build with LEDs as experiment for LEDs also part for maximum grow space efficiency. My plan, 2.4m x 1.2m scrog nets but with two levels with a max ceiling hight of 2.4m, so two rooms in one each measuring 2.4 x1.2 x1.2m obviously only made available with LED lighting . Now stupidly i went out and orders some bits off the cuff and are in transit to my home, I brought Mean Well HLG-320H-24 x10 and Samsung F-Series Gen 3 x 40.. I'm pretty sure a made a mistake but hoping i can work with what I have and create something cool. I'm in need of a little help with the set up parallel/series , number of drivers ect.

ANY HELP, would be amazing and greatly appreciated, I'd offer a donation to you or a charity on your request very happily (I don't want to blow my house up and believe me I'd manage it some how)

I'm fairly confident with the right guidance i have history with plumbing and pipe work so not a far different out look plus I'm looking at building batteries so familiar some language and practices but please treat me like a 5 year old. I've asked about the above products as I have them on the way but in the near future I plan on adding a small amount of CREE XP-G3 Photo Red, I believe I'll have spare drivers so if that was possible?

Rough layout is a 2.4m (spine) with (ribs) each side x2 also if 40 strips isn't enough I can order more and just complete 1 level for now..

I really hope I've explained everything I can and you can vision what I'm planning. I look forward to hearing back from someone that takes pity on me 🤣!

Thank you alll ✌

@Chunknorris,

The LED Strip Model Number or Part Number is required for calculations...
Some Calculations:
2.4 * 1.2 = 2.88 m2
2.88 * 800 (PPFD Flower CO2 enhansed per M2) = 2304 PPF (min req'd)

2304 PPF / 2.5 PPE = 921.6 Watts
922 * 1.25 = 1152.5 Watts

2 * 2304 = 4608 PPF Total
2 * 1153 = 2306 Watts Total
4608 (PPF) / 0.0144 (PPF/Lm)= ~ 320000 Lm

Strip Selection: ???
No Model number ?
F562B, 560mm, 4500 Lm, 24 Vf, 25.8W; 40 * 4500 Lm ea = 180000 Lm @ 1032 Watts
F564B, 560mm, 9000Lm, 46 Vf, 51.5W; 40 * 9000 Lm ea = 360000 Lm @ 2060 Watts
FB22B, 1120mm, 9000Lm, 46 Vf, 51.5W; 40 * 9000 Lm ea = 360000 Lm @ 2060 Watts
FB24B, 1120mm, 18000Lm, 46 Vf, 103W; 40 * 18000 Lm ea = 720000 Lm @ 4120 Watts

Driver Selection: ???
10 * HLG-320H-24 = 3200 Watts @ 24 Vdc ... Only F562B LED Strips (24 Vf) wired in Parallel
No dimming or adjustments?

Notes:
1. Grow Lights should be "Sized" by Grow Area and Plant Specific Growth Stage... download/file.php?id=4438

2. Older "Watts per sq ft sizing" was based on ~ 1.7 PPE (1000W HID / 25 sq ft)... e.g., 40 Watts / sq ft ~ 68 PPF / sq ft (680 PPF / m2)

3. The 0.0144 PPF/Lm Conversion Factor used is for Samsung 4000K LEDs. Nominal Efficiency of current LED Strips is ~ 2.5 PPE and the LED Driver "Sizing" factor or multiplier used is 1.25 (125%) of the LED's Watts for "Reserve Capacity" .

4. The -AB suffix XLG and HLG series Meanwell Drivers can be "Current Limited" down to 50% (-A) and then Dimmed between "0 or 10 - 100%" (-B), e.g., HLG-480H-AB can be current adjusted down to 240 Watts (-A, 50%) and then also Dimmed 0 - 240 Watts (-B, 0 - 100%) with a connected 100K Ohm Pot. The -B suffix Drivers are a more versatile alternative than the -A suffix Drivers, can be dimmed down to 0 or 10% (0 Watts for the HLG-480H-48B) with the added 100K Ohm Pot and (IMO) should be the only other alternative to the -AB suffix drivers if dimming is required.
Good luck. You're welcome.

Samsung SI-B8T521560WW, F564B, 46Vf, 9000Lm, 51.4Watts.. Requires -48AB, -48B, -48A or -54AB, -54B, -54A Suffix LED Drivers (Constant Current Range of ~ 24 or 27 Vdc up to 48 or 54 Vdc respectively), wired in Parallel.

So just going over some of the numbers @peteR that. Diagram shows up at 480w max with 8 strips in parallel. So you mentioned i needed 1150w over the area I needed obviously x2 for this particular layout. So i was thinking 2 of these 480w layouts and then make up the wattage with other lighting more flower oriented over each level?

That would be 16 strips ( two sitting in line and 8 rows)

Each row would be 300mm apart? Do you have recommendations on lights to make up the wattage?

With a “Required Driver” of 1153 Watts... the “Selected Drivers” would be Two (2) HLG-600H-48AB (1200 Watts) wired to Ten (10) F564B LED Strips each, for a total of Four (4) 600 Watt LED Drivers

Hey Peter, so I basically have everything now but I'm just send these drivers back. I want todo the 10x in parallel set up but they don't have that last driver you mentioned in stock. What is the next one you recommend if possible?

Thank you

Chunk.
