Hello all.

First post here but have been lurking for a while soaking up as much information as I can before asking questions.
I think I have the basics down on strip builds but just wanted to double check.

The posts here have been incredibly helpful.

I have a design using ( 8 ) SL-B8V3N80LAWW that I would like to wire in series for design purposes.
It looks like the HLG-320H-C1400B driver would fit the bill for this.
If someone knows of a better driver for the task I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks

That one will work but you won't get 320W out if it, only around 250W.

An HLG-240H-C1400 would work too, probably top out around 220W. An -C1400A or -C1400AB might go up to 1.625A and give 295W.

An HLG-320H-24 would work and put out around 300W but that's at ~1.67A per strip.
HLG-240H-24: ~223W. An -24A or -24AB driver might get you 240W.

I can't say which is better without knowing your power goal, but another driver would give you more of what it says on the tin.

Thanks for the reply!

I chose that driver because I believe its a constant current unit rated at the nominal amperage of the strips with enough voltage headroom.
I'm new so don't know how to optimize things perfectly. Erring on the side of caution.

I've upped the build to 16 strips. Two sets of 8 wired in series.
Here is the completed driver board. Made use of an old cutting board.

Drivers are elevated off of board with spacers.

Still waiting on overdue aluminum extrusions for the frame. ( Thanks UPS )

Will be growing Habanero, Peach Scotch Bonnet and Bleeding Borg 9 peppers along with some unknown tomatoes.
Some of these guys will be moved outdoors.
