Hi everyone!
I just ordered these: https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/ ... nd/6624001

FSERIES Gen3 F562B 3000k Strip
Driven soft at 350mA you get a voltage drop of about 21,28V, so 7,5W/Strip with an efficacy of about 2,9mmol/W.
I was thinking of running 16 on an HLG 120H C700B. Since the connectors don't take more than 300V, i figured 8S2P . Any thoughts?

Okay, had a look at the data sheet. From what I understand, each of these strips has 9 parallel strings, each containing 8 diodes in series.

If you run were to split your 700mA in 2 and run 350mA to each strip, that would be 350mA / 9 = 39mA per diode, which is really underpowered. You won't be happy with that amount of light. At minimum, I would plan for enough power to run the diodes at 100mA which is 50% of their max. You can always dim it down if you like, but this way you have power on tap, whereas the other way you would be stuck needing a new driver.

To hit this number, you'd need 900mA per strip - call it 1050mA. You could run a pair of HLG-240H-C2100 drivers and do 2 parallel strings of 4 series strips per driver.

Hey! Thanks for your thoughts! In my most efficient plan i would drive 16 strips @ 350mA/strip, which is 38,88mA/Led in a space of 60x60cm. Thats about 350µmol @ 120W. So i would rather think it is enough parlight. Of course i could also choose a larger current and use less strips and be a little less efficient. i couldnt find any reports etc with driving strips or quantum boards so soft, but i see a great advantage to it terms of light spread and efficacy, thats why i was asking

Can you show me your calculation for PPFD in that space?

sure:
i copied the numbers from hlg into my calculator : pic#1
hlg chart.png

then broke it down to diode level and compared to samsung data: #2
diode level.png
diode level.png (473.62 KiB) Viewed 3048 times
i had to compare s6 with s5 and the data sheets of the strips themselves, but the difference was marginal

then multiplied it by the numbers of diodes per strip:

note: the current in red is the one recommended by samsung, blue would be the most efficacious i have numbers available on.

sorry for the wierd formatting but i hope the numbers are accurate..

so for me: 16 strips @ 350mA (38,89mA/LED), 340V max (too much for the connectors), so
16x strips in 8S2P on HLG 120H-C700B ~ 120W, 344µmol which divided by 0,3m2 (60x50cm) is = 1146µmol/m2

Ah, I didn't realize initially that you were only in a 2'x2' space. Makes more sense now.

That PPFD number is right at the board though, correct? How will you account for the losses incurred by having your lights 12" away from your plants or further?

Yes this is from board , so driver loss is not accounted for. As for distance from canopy: 12 inch ( 30cm) is too much, i bet with that little heat i cAn go 10-15cm. What ppfd do you aim for from board?

I ended up doing 12 strips @ 500mA
( HLG 120H C500B )
