F562B Build max lumens/watt

I am planning on building an LED design for a 2’x1.5′ area.

I was thinking to achieve maximum efficiency of lumens with the LM561C 3000K at 88ma I would run 5 x F562B strips in parallel with the HLG-100H-24A and then use the built in potentiometer to reduce the current to 3.96A and the voltage to 23.2V using my multimeter.
This would give each strip 792ma and 23.2V. Since the internal circuitry of the F562B is 8 series and 9 parallel it would be giving 88ma per LED diode and 2.9V
Total draw of the setup = 91.85W
200+L/W

Does this sound like a good setup for a smaller grow so I can keep the strips 12" from canopy?

At ~800mA per strip, you will have a voltage of about 22.5. You can only set one of the two parameters: current or voltage, and if you make one constant, the other will fluctuate.

i want to go the same route with some F562B strips
and when i looked at the prices of HLG Constant voltage drivers i figured out i would take a more powerful of the bunch, because they cost just a few $ more than the less powerful.
so with the HLG-185H-24A the output current can be adjusted to 3.9A ~ 7.8A.
Example: when i want to power 5 strips: i set the current to 3900mA i would get 780mA per strip. are you telling me that the voltage cannot be adjusted anymore and the driver will just deliver 24V?
OR: are you telling me the driver will try to power each of the 5 strips with 1120mA (=5600mA) and because he can't do that he will just downregulate the voltage?
sorry, i watched your driver guide on youtube but i seem to still not get it. because in the meanwell datasheet it says both current and voltage can be adjusted with A-type drivers.

Your right in your first example if you are wiring in parallel you will divide the current (amps) by 5 and the voltage will deliver up to 24Vdc. So you can run any setup less than 24Vds and it will adjust itself, just don't overload it.

I forgot to mention that the HLG-100H-24A is a CC and CV driver. You can adjust both Current and Voltage with 2 pontentiometers on the casing.
I suppose it makes more sense to get a more powerful driver in case I wanted to change my setup to something larger and power the strips more. Looks like I will need something with 1.8A max wired in series with ~120Vdc = 216W max.
I will have to do more research to find a suitable one.

Anyone use the Mean Well ELG instead of the HLG series?

Yup, I just meant that it's impossible to pick the voltage AND the current. If you set the voltage to 23.2V, those strips will want about 1200mA. If you set the current to 800mA, they'll have 22.5V across them. You get to pick only one variable and make it constant.

In the case of the 100H-24A driver, the Mean Well test report says it can do up to 4.5A, which is 500mA higher than its rated current of 4A. If we hook up 5 strips and crank the voltage and current, you'll get 4.5A divided by 5 strips = 900mA per strip. At this current, they will have 22.7V across them. Total system power will be 22.7 * 4.5 = 102 Watts.

After doing some more research on constant current drivers I came up with 2 options for 5 X F62B in order to run at ~800ma per strip (~88ma per led diode) and option to increase the output for other applications if I choose to:

Wired in parallel- up to ~175ma per led diode - up to ~1.5A per strip:
HLG-185H-24A as tazztone mentioned
93.5% efficiency
24V
7.8A max
187.2W max

Wired in series - up to ~194ma per led diode - up to ~1.75A per strip:
ELG-240-C1750B
93% efficiency
69 ~ 137V
1.75A max
178.5 W max

The ELG series drivers can dimm from 0% to 100%, at 0% are completely off, different form HLG that can dim from 10% to 100%. I've also read somewhere that ELG are produced on an automated production line, HLG are not. The price difference is only a couple of dollars so not a deciding factor.

Running 5 strips @ 792ma it looks like I will be getting less Lm/W than expected at only 179.9 lm/w
3212 x 5 = 16,060 lumens total
89.5 watts total

At full output(1.8A) it is 159.8 lm/w but can't get full 216 watts out of the drivers in mind.

Design 1 : HLG-185H-24A
1.577 A per strip
187.2 W/5 = 37.44w per strip
6128 x 5 = 30,640 lumens total

Design 2: ELG-240-C1750B
1.510 A per strip
178.5W/5 = 35.7w per strip
5890 x 5 = 29,450 lumens total

At first glance of your final two designs I thought 1.5A was pretty high to be running through a 2' strip temp. wise, but knowing there are 72 diodes per I don't think it would be a problem. Not sure though as I'm not familiar with the f-series strips (yet lol). Can't wait to see your finished product though.
