awesome new drop from Bridgelux. I was not expecting them to make their own quantum boards.

Unfortunately the squares seem to to be using older diodes and are not available in desirable spectrums.

I checked bridgelux's listed distributors and none of them have the strips listed yet. It's probably gonna be a week or so till arrow or digikey list them.

I thought the connectors were in a prick of a place at first, but then realised it looks like they need matching heatsinks.

And another edit: no 3000K on the boards. 5000K is sooooo yesterday . . .

Yeah.. why? 3000K is perfect for home lighting. Anything beyond 4000K is so annoying. but I guess most industrial/workplace gigs use 4000K. Sometimes I wonder who uses these rigid strips anyway, except a bunch of crazies growing plants.

I think the slim version is really nice.

I always wondered why we gotta have rectangular designs. Isn't a square much easier to work with when designing lighting for a room? Why is the most popular size for boards ~600x200mm? Wouldn't the spread be much better at a theoretical 600x600? Etc. - in this sense I think they are making a great move... I would be the first to buy these in 3000k 90CRI if just to light my room (they are only in 80cri, not 90)

Aloha & the original light recipe at cannabis castle in 1986 was one metal halide 400w with three 400w hps. In the haze sativa growing area Neville changed the ratio to one Metal Halide to two HPS and got better results and production with shorter plants and internodes.

The squares are designed to be used as retro fits for what we call here Oyster lights.
Tridonic have had them for many years as well as several other companies, performance of them have been pretty poor so it looks like bridgelux are jumping in with something with decent performance.

It is very common in Australia for people to use 5000k in their home, it's horrible but that's the normal here, the European market keeps lower color temperatures and that's what these are aimed at.
Being the 170lpw type the leds are dirt cheap now.

5000k + 660 + 730 is the paradise!
