For a small space with a couple of plants it works. Not really useful for the folks growing in a large warehouse with hundreds of plants.

One thing to note from my pics with only 2 plants... the large plant on the left had 12 strips aimed at her. The plant on the right had only 8.

Light waste is unavoidable in my situation but that is because I run lower power and was trying to keep the strips ~8” from the plants. If the plants were taller, light waste would have been reduced. 😉 Strips at 12” vs the 22” ones I have would make things even more controllable to reduce light waste plus increase plant exposure.

I’m contemplating building another light that is more like a birdcage. Challenge is how to design so it can easily size up as the plant grows, both vertical and horizontal. Plus be able to easily access the plant.

Once I saw the type of growth that’s possible with strips my inner enginerd starting designing all different types of frames. 🤣

Strips are the future of indoor growing. No doubt about it.
Its a real balancing act, put lighting downwards with a higher watts per sq ft as is traditional or off set the strips on angles, in some other combination arrangement. I'm not totally sure about the law of diminishing returns here, how much down versus side lighting etc. Also depends on how much if any at all for training. With your arrangement you'd be getting a large intensity spike near the peak and near the bottom a low intensity but better than overhead.

How many watts did you run on those two plants in flower?

I've seen vertical grows with all side lighting and that's not the answer either, colas want to grow horizontally, unless they are rotated which sucks if it's manual or automated as plants don't retain a perfectly cylindrical shape.

If i run lights only overhead I'm looking at lots of training on 12 plants to keep canopy flat, if I run a light arrangement with a combo of overhead with side lighting I can grow 8 plants with a little training. 12 plants will produce a decent amount of larffy buds, 8 plants won't - yield may be very similar but quality will be better on 8 plant setup. There is no such thing as a free lunch here, just how best to optimize ones preferences and, less labour input on 8 plant setup, that's a big plus on a commercial level.

Thought I’d show some results from these lights.

As you can see, these have yielded some incredible results.

I’ll note that I am a licensed medical grower in Canada with legal recreational laws.
any more questions about how Opitsolis grows?
fucking awesome YY
I love you images, can I share them on riu? for the naysayers
Cheers

I also want to point out the fact that the strips are not at any kind of calculated distance apart from each other... I placed them using the “that-looks-good” methodology. Damn be the folk who think they need some “photon placement perfect” design. 😂😎
Upon reflection then a fixed frame would be much easier, no?

@Welight feel free to share them. These lights are truly amazing. (Plus I get 20% off my next order, right?) 🤣

@Nuggie Depends on the grower and the plants. One plant was over 24” wide at the bottom. Some separation of the ribs was necessary once I noticed she had outgrown the light path. Each strip was 30watts at 100% power. One plant had 12 strips aimed at her, so 360 watts.

@Welight One of my autos produced 9.8 oz of useable bud. That will help with the naysayers.
