First build with EB3 90cri Strip

Aloha guys,

Decided to preorder some EB3 strips from FE. I have roughly 3.75' x 6.25' canopy that is strictly for flowering cannabis (I know its weird size). I bought 20 of the 4ft strips and 20 of the 2ft strips.

Any suggestions on how to wire them up. Is it better to go with fixed V or Amp driver?

I am out in Hawaii (expensive shipping) so I was thinking to use scrap Aluminum PV rail for Heat sinks and buy the rest of what I need from Amazon Prime.

I work in the solar industry designing commercial pv systems so I get the basics.

Below is what I have on back order. Want to start hunting for a Driver or 2? next. Seems like alot of people use HLG.

Should I keep my order or is there something better I should be looking at?
What do you guys recommend for UV sup?

(20) BXEB-L1120Z27G4000-C-C3
(20) BXEB-L0560Z-27G2000-C-C3

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I found this

HLG-600H-54AB

Was thinking about wiring up 10 of the longer strips in parallel and then wire those two strings of lights in series making system of 54v. But I will be capping the current at around 1.1 amps per light. Is
HLG-600H-54AB the best driver for my situation? Or is there another manufacturer I should look at outside of MW?

Aloha

Ok so after reviewing the datasheet from EB I came up with the following design for the strips. Let me know if anyone has any questions or suggestions. I am not 100% on the drivers. I was going to run this past the EJ that I work with.

4ft strip
.7A 38.3V 26.8W

(20) 14A 38.3V 536W
HLG-600H (600W) Voltage - Output 35.7 ~ 44.1V Current - Output (Max) 14.3A

2ft strip
.7A 19.1V 13.4W

(20) 14A 19.1V 268W
HLG-320H (320W) Voltage - Output 17 ~ 22V Current - Output (Max) 15A

Both those builds look good to me. You’ll get about an extra amp output on that 600H than spec’d and some extra on the little guy too. Best way to gauge those drivers is to look at Mean Well’s “Report” tab for their test results.

you might consider two of the HLG-320's instead of one HLG-600. it could be cheaper and you get a bit more power. also if you haven't already, check Octopart to find the cheapest source, who has what in stock, etc. recently Jameco has the better prices (in the US anyway) but a few months ago it was Digikey. I didnt see any of the AB versions in stock when i checked a couple weeks ago, though.

also, look for the Slim version of the strips...maybe they wont be on backorder? I've been checking periodically for the 2ft 2700k CRI90s, but nobody seems to stock them. I'd like to get my hands on 100 of the slims.

Good looking out. I was about to pay for 2 drivers this am. I will look into the driver suggestion.

Thanks for all the info guys. My strips should be on island in about 9 weeks. Should be just in time for my next cycle.
which be from seed to harvest grown under leds for the first time in my garden.

Super excited and since I am assembling the lights myself I easily saved over $2k.

Aloha Friday my braddahs. I will make sure to keep you guys posted on my build as it progresses.

Thanks for that went with 2x ‎HLG-320H-C700B‎ instead of the 600.
FC .7 amps

Just found out my 4ft strips are in stock and should ship Monday!

Cheeee!~

Which strips are you powering with these 320s? 2’ or 4’?
