I'm looking for a 3w driver for clones, and 7 & 14w drivers for seedlings and a herb station. Many of these drivers say something like 7(*1w)... Does that mean they would not work with strips?

Here it says constant current, so maybe they are just saying that a 7w driver can support 7x1w leds?

Aloha & I am looking at the ChilLed 200w unit and need to add about 40W of 730nm red using a dimmable driver. I need 20% for early bloom and 10% for fruiting stage of growth. I think this could work using 2 drivers? HERO-LED PS-12LPS20-DIM ETL-listed Dimmable LED Constant Voltage Power Supply - Dimmble LED Transformer 12V DC, 1.7A, 20W

yeah, that's how I understand it.. they are saying you need at least 4.. and up to 7 1w diodes ( 3v x .3a = 1w ish ) so as long as your over 12v under 24v, it will work.. driving at 300maunkle_psycho wrote: ↑Sat Nov 24, 2018 4:43 pmHere it says constant current, so maybe they are just saying that a 7w driver can support 7x1w leds?

I don't think there would be any problem splitting to 2 drivers, at least if the voltages and ampers match. You plan to run 730nm during lights on, or as a sleep initiator? And which diodes are you looking at?Marine2143 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 24, 2018 5:00 pmAloha & I am looking at the ChilLed 200w unit and need to add about 40W of 730nm red using a dimmable driver. Meanwell can suck it
I was staring at a driver in my junk pile like that last night thinking such thoughts. I'm playing catch-up so I have nothing of value to add other than thank you for sharing your tinkerings. Unkle Psycho, you set a pace I can't quite match.
I may be an American but my blood runs Finnish, brother. I'm gonna have to visit for a Sauna someday.

Aloha & I plan to use 20% 730nm in early bloom using the 3w chips from Rapid LED. During late bloom I want to reduce that to 10%. https://www.rapidled.com/solderless-cre ... r-red-led/

Sounds interesting. I've been dying to get some 730's and try to see if a sleep initiator works...Marine2143 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 5:57 pmAloha & I plan to use 20% 730nm in early bloom using the 3w chips from Rapid LED.
