The idea of this thread is to share different spectrum's to find out what people prefer and why, efficacy will not be discussed in this thread. Feel free to post your own spectrum's.
PC RED is something I have been a little obsessed with for years as it covers so much of the important spectrum, by using PC red this enables a variety of colour blends reducing stock required to cover all colours.
I will post a few different blends and combinations using PC red.

Nice, will be following for sure. have you ever seen the 'meat chip' COBs? I think they were bridgelux... might be good for home lighting, they had a color temperature below 2000k

Yes I have, there is a fine line when things quickly change from being a nice colour to turning pink. The meat chips have a pink colour.unkle_psycho wrote: ↑Wed Jul 03, 2019 9:39 pmNice, will be following for sure. have you ever seen the 'meat chip' COBs? One of the nicest colours I have made was PC amber and PC red combined, I think it was about 1500K really nice and made you want to fall asleep, no blue at all in that colour.
Blue light is bad for you late at night when its time to sleep as it messes with your brain.
We have evolved with nothing more than fire at night for so many thousands of years and because of fluro and led lights we have started to mess with our biology.
Europe will sort this out first as they are more aware of how this effects your circadian rhythm but hopefully the rest of the world will follow up with it.

That would be great, it's not so easy to achieve though, it would probably require 10 different leds to do it all and phosphor blends. Maybe Nichia will come up with something as they seem to have the best phosphor to make a flat spectrum.
Needs to be a profit involved for a company like Nichia to do it and nichia do not care all that much about horticulture, most led packaging companies don't put much effort into horticulture at all.
It's only been the past few years that things have started to progress more rapidly.
In the past when I have requested horticultural specific phosphors nearly all manufacturers have told me they will never do it, that is changing now.
Most major companies have only been copying what each other have done for the past 10 years and that's happening again now with "sunlike spectrums"

Aloha & we found working with the sunlike 25w interesting with the 4 and 5k chips. Seoul Semiconductor just won the innovation award for 2019 in Germany last month. https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/ ... ctrum-LEDsTEKNIK wrote: ↑Thu Jul 04, 2019 11:41 pmThat would be great, it's not so easy to achieve though, it would probably require 10 different leds to do it all and phosphor blends. I honestly believe the most of these awards are given to the companies that provide the judges the best hookers and cocaine.Marine2143 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 5:38 pmAloha & we found working with the sunlike 25w interesting with the 4 and 5k chips.
