What are the current boards/strips to buy?

All things related to board-style lights (Quantum Boards, Logic Pucks, etc.)

Is there much difference using the 3500k or 4000k strips for veg?

They are going cheap, 4k and 35k will work roughly the same, 4k will keep things a little shorter.
I would imagine that the gen3 will cost about 3X the price so take advantage of the clearance while stock is available

Digikey is listing the first of the new models, since yesterday. It's the gen3 slim line. Price is already there, and estimated arrival on the 17th.

For the cookie cutter 4x4 Bridgelux eb gen 2 strips, how was the driver selected?
I understand a wattage over area was calculated, but having trouble with how many strips used and that type of thing
I think its 12, 4 foot strips with a meanwell 480H 42A driver.

So the strips:
39V
max current 1.4A

And the driver:
DC Voltage: 42V
Rated current: 11.4A
rated power 478.8W

I understand the volts fitting.
But what determines how many strips to use (minimum) and how many strips could be added?

You can add as many strips as you like in parallel, the more strips you add the less power each would use, make sure you have some sort of heatsink if you are only using 12 of them.

How is the minimum number determined?

Is it the number of strips divided into the rated current?

You can divide the drivers output current by the number of strips, to see how much power each strip will receive. 700mA would be nominal, and not need heatsinks. 1000mA starts generating a little heat, but still quite cool. 1400mA you will feel heat, but still be well within specifications. Efficiency will drop slightly as you drive harder, but overall output will increase too.

I feel different drivers push me towards different setups. What kind of overall power levels are you aiming for?

I have a bunch of odd shaped areas to light up.
Ones roughly 4x3 to flower in.
Another 2x4.

Just wanted to make sure I understood how it was calculated.

Thanks to everyone for the advice as well.

Whats the target watts for veg?

Veg would start with a DLI of 20 and end with a DLI of 30. Flower would start with a DLI of 30 and end with a DLI of 40... In optimal conditions with CO2.

In 12/12 30w/ft will get you close to 30DLI, and 40w/ft will get you around 40DLI.

To achieve 30DLI that you should have at the end of veg, you can run with 20w/ft because you run longer hours.
